The reception guy was very friendly and hospitable however there were flies hovering around the computer monitor. At first I thought they'd move on but the second time I went down to reception, they were still there, flying about and making that area feel dirty. Other than that, solid breakfast in the morning.
The view from the room overlooks the lake. It's nice to be in the center of the city. The staff is caring and friendly. A very well located hotel for Helsinki
We stayed 24-25.8.2024. Check-in was at 15 but we only got our rooms around 16:30. There were a lot of other people in the hotel lobby at the time of our arrival. Many of the guests had to wait 10-15min in a queue to check in. We needed to queue twice before getting our room. We were not offered any discounts etc. for the late check in. We were 3 people staying in one room with breakfast, total was...
We had the best stay at this hotel. Everything is perfect. We were supposed to stay 2 nights and we stayed 4.
The breakfast is the best.
Sauna and pool really are great. The sauna overlooks the park.
The hotel is super clean and the staff is super sweet.
The most overall look was nice and clean. If you look at some details like scratches on the wall or the weird plumbing situation with the bathroom sink then you can notice some imperfections. For breakfast you were guided to book a table in advance but in reality the breakfast was a chaos and you had to find yourself a table. The food was nice and the staff were friendly. The parking garage was full...
The room was really hot and it wasn’t possible to regulate it to make it cooler, which made it pretty uncomfortable. However the service was friendly, breakfast good and the best of it all was the view from the sauna. Highly recommend having a morning sauna and swim!

What a beautiful new hotel in the most convenient location in Helsinki!
The bed was super comfy, bath tub was a pleasant surprise, service very friendly and flexible, the building itself is so pretty - i felt like a VIP staying here.
Tip for dinner: burger at the hotel bar was amazing ✨
The hotel has a very unique character, loved it. An old train station building very nicely renovated. Location is excellent, you can walk to every interesting place in Helsinki from here.
We had a great room, with an amazing shower. The breakfast is good although it is the same selection every day. The hotel is huge and has some related issues such as a very crowded breakfast room and a luggage storage room that is overfull.
Overnighting on the way back from London, this hotel feels really luxurious! Utterly elegant room in the old part of the building, beautiful colours, extremely tidy, overly abundant breakfast.
Loved this hotel! It has a lot of character, being located in a stylish 1930s former headquarters of Finnish railways. The location is central to everything, including the railway station but the sound insulation is perfect - no noise at all! Rooms are modern, beds comfy, clean, friendly service. And their breakfasts are really good! Recommend!
Great hotel, couple minutes away from the train station! The windows are so good, you don’t hear the noise from the central station! The breakfast is amazing, wide variety of food available! I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel if you are visiting Helsinki

It may be a European thing, but there was no room in the fridge and no cutlery or plates. Other than that, It was a great place to stay. Comfortable bed and great service by the staff.
Executive room with a nice view and some champagne, a couples retreat which worked well. Great service as well, lounge had some nice snacks. Beautiful elevators and good quality rooms. Mattress a little hard and a bit minus for the pool and sauna; desperately in need of a make over. Breakfast was nice and fresh with a wide selection. Overall a nice stay!
Overall a good stay, but a few issues!
Not the usual quality one expects from a Hilton.
The rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. Housekeeping staff did a great job.
One morning the hot water broke. The staff were not very apologetic about this, but we were given money off on checkout so do ask if things genuinely go wrong - I would never ask usually but don’t think you should have to pay for a cold...
A wonderful hotel. My stay was nice, the personnel is kind, the lobby extremely pleasant, the room neatly arranged and very clean. The location is perfect, central and quiet in the same time.
If I may have a minor critic, it is just about the fact that the hotel did not offer me any compensation (I just expected something small and symbolic) after a problem with warm water one morning when I had to...
This hotel was just okay. The staff was great, very welcoming and helpful when you needed them. However, there were very few amenities. The pool is indoors, small and cold. There was a sauna and gym. There was only one restaurant and no room service. The location was about a 20mins walk to the center city. I went during summer time so it's daylight about 19hrs and it never gets completely dark. I knew...
This is a lovely hotel. The breakfast was fantastic. Best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. It’s also a great location to be able to walk to all the major sites in the city. The staff were friendly as well. The parking garage was a little weird to get in and out of, and of course we had to pay to park.

I attended conference for 2 days. Food served during lunch buffet was really of good quality. Deserts served during lunch time looked like bakery chef craft with berrys and chocolate along with simple colorful macaroons.
Will definitely stay here again. Very close walk to downtown. Great food. Great customer service. Also have a nice full gym, pool and sauna. This will absolutely be my go-to hotel for visits to Helsinki.
This is my go-to hotel in Helsinki. The massive gym is by far the best hotel facility in Helsinki. Just a 10-15 min walk to the railway station, Kamppi etc., and as a plus the walk is along a beautiful park waterfront. The breakfast selection is excellent, I'd definitely recommend as an add-on. On the other hand the lounge is a bit sad, I would not pay anything extra for that.
Rooms are relatively small. Especially for the junior suite.
They first put me in a room where the minibar wasn’t even stocked. Like what? (3rd floor)
Had to call the receptionist to ask to be moved to a room with a stocked minibar. ( 5th floor)
The junior suite on the 5th floor was a corner room. So it was more spacious and generally looked way better than the one on the third floor.
A blessing...
There's just something weird about the beds. I don't know what. Otherwise the staff are fantastic. Be aware there is no coed sauna for hetero couples wanting to relax. The breakfast here is great and worth the extra price if you are using booking. Lots of plugins for charging but you can't cast to the TV.
It is still a good hotel to stay in Helsinki, especially for confidence or seminar delegate. Check in service is smooth and easy going, good breakfast, great size of the guest rooms (even some of the furniture pieces are worn out)... Good sleep quality!
Sure thing Finnish sauna to enjoy after a long working day.
I want to advise you to put some benches at the pool side so guests can place their towels...

Sokos is my goto whenever in Helsinki. You cannot be any more central relative to what you need in the city. The staff are exceptionally helpful and welcoming. The hotel itself is a time capsule of style I hope is never updated to the generic bland vanilla interiors most hotels feel obliged to become. The breakfast is a standout. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Location is the best ! Probably the most walkable hotel I’ve ever stayed in- Finnish and American stores within steps. Mc Donald’s too ! Great variety of breakfast buffet included. Our room has a view of the city.
I had a wonderful stay at the Sokos Hotel Vaakuna Helsinki! The staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly and welcoming, going out of their way to make my visit enjoyable. Their helpful recommendations and warm smiles made a great first impression.
The location is unbeatable—right across from the main train station, making it super convenient for getting around Helsinki and beyond. I loved...
What a wonderful place to stay. The view is awesome and I loved you can sit in the windows on the pillow and look at people all day. Breakfast was very nice and so many choices. If I go back to Helsinki I will stay here
Was there for a special convention so our stay was lengthy. The staff were great, great location, excellent breakfast and the room was perfect. Many thank to everyone for making our stay in Helsinki memorable.
Great value for money in a beautifully kept 50's hotel. Comfortable beds, lovely and large rooms, great location. While service is friendly I was disappointed to find trash left in the bin in our room, and the remote control snugged on the floor under a curtain. Clear signs that cleaning is not doing their job properly. Additionally, the breakfast can definitely be improved upon as a lot of stuff felt...

This is a beautiful and unique hotel, right on the Bulevardi, one of the nicest streets in Helsinki. The decor was cozy and beautiful, the breakfast was excellent and traditional Finnish. The staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommended!!!
I can't say enough good things about this hotel! We stayed in five-star hotels and luxury villas throughout our trip to Estonia and Finland, and this hotel turned out to be our favorite!
The hotel is exceptionally warm and cozy, with fantastic attention to detail. The abundance of candles, traditional Finnish music, pine-scented bath products, and plush reindeer furs give the property a lot of character...
We loved this place so much, the highlight being the sauna inside the room! Amazing breakfast and nice staff at reception. Nice art in the room and cozy atmosphere with the music, candles and decoration around the place. Just room service and the minibar seemed unnecessarily expensive so we didn’t use it
Absolutely love this hotel, I booked the room with a sauna and used it as much as possible. It’s a beautiful place to stay. The restaurant is unfortunately not up to the same level but would definitely stay here again !
Amazing rooms, super staff. Great location in Helsinki. Breakfast is ok, but not as good as you might expect from a hotel like this. Food in restaurant is recommended though!
I have stayed at this hotel 3 times since 2019 and will stay once before I leave for Australia.
Positives: I highly recommend the Sauna rooms, these are unique to Lapland hotel and are a lovely touch. This hotel is extremely clean and nicer than some other 5 star hotels in Helsinki. Great 3 night stay. Hotel room with sea view was lovely and room was spacious. Hotel is pretty secluded from surrounding area. Only things to note are I'd wanting to head into city center or ferry terminals, it is about a 15-25 minute taxi ride depending on time of day. Users were reasonable, they also have 3-5 taxis at all times waiting outside lobby. Also if you're an American like I am and expect...
As someone who grew up in this neighborhood, coming to Kalastajatorppa was like stepping into a time capsule. This iconic hotel has been one of the top addresses since I was a kid. The location by the seaside is lovely, but if one wishes to spend more time in the city centre, it's good to be aware that this requires jumping on a bike (available at the hotel), or taking a tram or a car.
The room we stayed in (in the main building) had seen its better days, the toilet had a horrible smell and there was no AC, which would have been a problem, should it have been any warmer.

A former staff who's a friend recommended it, so we came to check it out. Ended up staying in one of their sister hotels in the city center because there really isn't much to offer near this hotel. Great location, very clean and staff friendly. Enjoyed their breakfast - great options. Have stayed three times and would certainly return if I find myself in Helsinki again.
Great location near shopping, restaurants, and the city center. Staff was friendly and attentive. The breakfast was amazing with a lot of great choices and regional specialties. The hotel itself is a bit of a maze.
Beautiful, chic hotel in a perfect location. The barman, Jordan, was friendly and kind, but he also had tips for fun, innovative places to visit and hidden gems in the neighborhood. Order the mezcal espresso martini. It will change your life.
Great place with spacious rooms which is always expected in any European country.
They don’t have the parking which is a bummer but gives 20% discounts on the amino parking lots. The parking lot would charge 36 euro/day.
They have a very good breakfast for 25$ which is worth it with the options that they give.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. The hotel loses a star from me for having big windows with curtains which don't block the light out, so if you like to sleep in a dark room you're better off going somewhere else. However, if that doesn't bother you then I would recommend this hotel.
The receptionists are amazing - I had trouble with my bag and they are helping me get it back. The location is beautiful, the restaurant breakfast is delicious, and the rooms are cool. Only thing that could be better is better cleaning services - there was still garbage in the room after cleaning.

Elaborately designed and implemented renovation.
Peaceful.
Beds comfortable and soft enough for me.
Nice bath in the room.
Comprehensive breakfast.
Interesting interior.
Excellent servive.
Location close to see and city center. Tram stop in 50 meters.
Enjoyed!
A pity that this wasn't the situation during the prison time.
The hotel has a campaign for breakfast at the rate of 17e per adult. Comparing to the weekend breakfast & brunch price in average, this price is quite competitive. This is the reason why we decided to try it out as locals (not staying at the hotel). The breakfast selection is at the average level and I liked the mushroom taste quite much. The campaign is valid till the end of this month.
Nice and interesting since it’s an old jail. Situated a bit out on Katajanokka, tram just outside or a 10 min walk to downtown. Sauna is only on weekends. Breakfast was good but in the rather dark basement. Not so much nice lobby-areas. The charged price didn’t meet expectations, should be a 40EUR less per night according to the standard offered.
A one of the most amazing hotel experience! It’s made of old prison and result is wonderful! We had a superior room where we had a really nice and big bathroom. Good value for money. It's a simple hotel. Clean with very friendly staff. If you want to stay central in Helsinki but aren't prepared to pay too much for a place just to sleep, then this hotel is a good choice.
Very clean and well-kept rooms with very friendly staff. Only marks off for us were our room on 6th floor- the heat was stuck to the maximum setting to 28 C which made it a little too toasty but staff was helpful and assisted in opening the window. I spent three nights in this code only hotel. Overall happy with the experience. Pro Location is good and room was clean. Comfortable matrass and handy to have a fridge and microwave. Cons shower could not get hot...warm at most. Windows cannot be opened but air circulation is okay.
This place is a lovely budget friendly option. My room was very pleasant, however, customer service is only conducted over the phone which can be a bit annoying if you are shattered like I was. This is best booked via the companies app.
A weird smell from the shower head in the toilet. It was alright for one night at a reasonable rate in Helsinki. A few nice add on as the microwave, water boiler and a fridge, plus a few coffee pouches.
I stayed for 1 night only, I could say it was pretty good, wasnt there so much noise from the street, there was no customer service, the room was quite clean ! It is not the kind of places you would stay for many days or weeks ! I think couple of few days would be fair enough !
The rooms have self check-in and codes sent to phone available, making them easy access if you have to get a room late at night or at strange hours. My room was standard and tidy, the bathroom sink handle was extremely hard to turn, but other than that the room was great; there was a mini fridge, a double bed and TV, along with a water boiler and a hairdryer. The AC wasn't adjustable and quite loud...
This was my first experience with European micro hotels. The facility is a little older, but my only real complaint was with the thermostat. On two stays over the course of ten days, one room was set to 15c and one was set to 22c. I really don't understand the thermostats, but it wouldve been nice to have a way to change.the temperature in advance of my arrival.

Nice old architecture but need of renovation. Room was clean but small. Relatively good view from the highest floor room windows. The elevator was old and slow, much faster to take the stairs. Good location in the center of the city but expensive parking, 36€ in the garage. Bad breakfast.
Well situated in the heart of Helsinki, the oldest hotel in Finland, although original location not the current one. Lovely old building. Amazing atmosphere. Great location, service, and beautiful bar. I wouldn’t have changed a thing it, very well situated, walkable, in a cute area. Very niche thing, but really appreciated the GHD hairdryer - I’ve never experienced a hotel having the same high end hair dryer I have at home!
Truly one of the best hotels in Europe, I absolutely loved my recent stay at Hotel St George and am already thinking about when I’ll be back.
For those looking for a hotel that hits on every aspect, this is the one:
- Location: couldn’t be more ideal as you are a quick walk to major sites, the train station, or tram spots to venture further
- Service: impeccable, the staff treated us very well in...
For context we are a couple in our early 30’s, without children fyi.

The spa facilities are lovely, very clean and calming. Massages were brilliant.
Food - breakfast was great, huge...
We have stayed at the Saint George for a few years in a row now, and every time we are highly impressed. The customer service is top notch, the rooms are tastefully decorated and the location is fantastic.
I’d like to give a personal shout out to Pauli, he has remembered me upon every visit, and his customer service/personability is second to none. I hope to see him every time I visit Helsinki!
Our room was great, had everything we needed, except a view. The room had a very small window in the corner making the room in itself a bit dark / gloomy. Bed was great, and the space as well, on top of good bathropes. Shoes they could not find that could fit a 46 / 11 size.
The service on the other hand was perfect and everyone was nice and quick.
We booked a suite but didn’t realize how tiny it is until we checked in… It’s cutely decorated but there is no space for placing luggage. They added a roller bed right outside of the bathroom that the door cannot be opened fully and the bathroom door lock was so loud that every time we close the door we had to be careful not to wake up the kid. So awkward…
The service was quick that whenever we requested...

The room was quiet and clean. Breakfast was ok, nothing extraordinary but wasn't missing anything either. All in all it was a pleasant stay.
Location is great, everything else not so.. Blond lady at the reseption was rude all the time, not only to customers but to colleagues as well. Talking rudely to colleague in front of customers. Not professional at all! Felt bad for the young girl there, she was friendly and helpful. We had superior room and our friends standard, didn't noticed the difference really, different coloured chairs,thats...
Yes, old style room, but clean, with a king size bed, well placed. Special mention for the breakfast !
Start with the good, the staff was supremely helpful and nice, the lobby is algo good and the location is amazing, my problem with the hotel was accommodations, the gym was terrible, looks like they just dropped a few machines there, the sauna area looked abandoned, I got and apartment, it was not bad in size, but decoration and bathroom could improve a lot.
I can say that it has been a true pleasure to enjoy the accommodation, the comfort, I slept like a queen, the breakfast and especially the helpfulness and attention of their owners Eva and Tuomas, as well as all the staff. I will definitely go back whenever I can! Thank you Moi Moi :)
Excellent breakfast, peaceful room, nice sauna, great location, beautiful terrace. In the bed enough good pillows but one normal size blanket is not enough for two people.

The hotel is located near West Harbor. It's more of a B&B than a hotel, and there are times when the front desk is not staffed. It's a spacious and comfortable room, but don't expect too much breakfast.
The hotel is not so centrally located but is easy to reach by tram and bus. The rooms are quiet, modern and of normal size. The hotel also has parking spaces in an underground car park. The entrance (at the back of the building) is a bit narrow and has a threshold, the parking spaces are of normal width.
Unfortunately, the maid had cleaned the bathroom only moderately when we arrived. We complained...
Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. It does not have a proper hotel feel, and the location is not very convenient - it's in the middle of a construction zone, with only one tram nearby, and not very walking distance to the center. People were extremely friendly though.
