Solo Sokos Hotel Helsinki in Helsinki

The location is super cute, and the hotel half ways and the decor definitely look modern and upscale. They also have rituals amenities for the shower. The breakfast was WOW! This was such a good value and nice but I had a very disturbing interaction with the front desk lady and her initials start with an a. She was kind enough to extend the check out to 1230 an additional 30 minutes, which is very generous and the hotel itself has a 12 PM checkout, which is also generous than most hotels. I got lost during my sightseeing, and I was back to my room and delayed by about 18 minutes over the 1230. The front desk lady knocked on the door, and I apologize and immediately left the room because I was preparing to leave. When I came to store my luggage, she told me that she would have to charge me extra and then it sort of escalated into a lecture about how I should respect the checkout time and she said that to me about three times it was very condescending and it was scolding me in front of a other guest. I’m a bit traumatized by that experience. I think there was a way to talk to people about something that went wrong. I did apologize and that doesn’t make it OK, but there’s a way to talk to people and she did not know how.
