Ibis Styles Lyon Croix Rousse

Making mistakes is human & forgivable but for the manager to punish us, the hotel guests, for the mistakes of his staff is poor decision-making & unacceptable hospitality, even for a low-priced mid-tier hotel.

Our party of 4 was looking forward to visiting Lyon. We booked two twin rooms for two nights. On arrival, the receptionist gave us two double rooms as "no twin rooms available". I asked if we could swap one of the doubles for two separate rooms. She said yes. All ok so far.

But next day at 1pm, we were sight-seeing in a museum 5km away on the other side of Lyon when the manager, Stephane, advised we were required to return immediately to remove our items from one room & threatened to charge us an extra fee if we did not return. After walking one hour back to the hotel, Stephane was unapologetic for either his decision or the errors from his staff that resulted us being given the wrong rooms in the first place and for taking almost a full day to realise their own error.

If they advised us at breakfast to move our items, it would not have been a problem but we lost valuable time from our only day in Lyon which soured our visit.

Nice, rather functional room. No smoking hotel, but traces of cigarette smell in the room and in the hall.
