The location is fantastic on top of a hill overlooking Lyon. Staff are very courteous and professional, but hotel needs to be updated. Specially the pool and spa area. The tiles of the pool were literally chipped off. It looked dated. Room has a nice view to the garden, but it does not feel luxurious. I am not sure about five star , this hotel is at best 3 or 4 star.

Great: Staff, view, wellness area. Room is rather small for the price. You should be in decent shape as the hill is quite steep or you’ll have to Uber every time you want to go out.

We enjoyed four beautiful nights in this elegant, beautiful hotel. The rooms are gorgeous and well appointed, particularly the bathrooms. Service was personal, friendly, nothing was ever a problem. The views of the old town are fantastic, but be prepared for the walk, Uber or scooter ride up and down the hill each day if you’re planning to stay here to explore Lyon over several days.

Really intriguing place to stay in for a weekend. Lots of small restaurants around and intact architecture to explore. I'm really impressed with the social atmosphere in Lyon. During the evening time the smell of amazing scents coming out from nearby boutiques, confectionery shops will make you feel relaxed and amazed. Worth coming over ?.

For the price, this hotel is fantastic. Everyone who works there is really helpful, and everyone speaks English, which is a huge plus for me. My only issue was the air conditioning, or serious lack of it. The week we were in Lyon it was routinely 80-90 degrees F out and the air conditioning in the room didn’t seem to even make a dent in the heat. If there had been AC I would give this place 5 stars...

The hotel room was a good size, everything worked and it was very clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and staff were extremely helpful. It was about a 10minute walk to Vieux lyon which suited us fine to be away from the crowds. We alos appreciated the welcome drink.

The Hotel Carlton Lyon was a perfect conclusion to a 10-day travel adventure in France and Switzerland. The advanced online check-in and my room being ready early, allowed me to settle in for a restful night before our flight home. The comfortable room and delicious breakfast was much appreciated.

Perfect location for visiting Lyon! We stayed here just one night but loved how centrally located it was. The staff were all very nice and helpful, and the valet parking was a great service to have as well when parking in a city. We would definitely stay here again when returning to Lyon!

Very central location with great public transport connectivity. Airport tram is a minute away too. There is a huge mall 5 minutes from the hotel so if you want shopping it is very convenient. It is right next to the gare but there are two tiers of windows so no sound gets into the room. Good value for money. Would definitely stay again on my next visit.

We were driving from Germany to Spain, and this was a great mid point. The hotel has a great location, near a train and tram station. Good restaurants in the vicinity. The hotel is clean and spacious. It has a good bar at the reception area.

Although it was a short stay, I was pleased with the comfortable, spacious room assigned. I was also given instructions to use the bus system and a map of where to visit Lyon. Sad that maintenance is falling down as this is a good location for an overnight at the train station. There is a lot of mold in the shower. The headboard of the bed needs replacement. The hotel is located very far from the station, the staff is friendly and helpful and they try their best to help you. I can only recommend, I will add one small minus, the room I occupied (single for one person) was small but good enough to spend only nights. This hotel is very well located in the city center. There's an excellent grocery store directly across the street which was helpful for buying water, wine, and some snacks to keep in our room. We stayed in Room 204 and it was at the end of the hall, away from the elevator. Even though it was street-facing, it was very quiet and we had a mini fridge which was great. Very good location to walk to central shopping area or historical centre. Room was big (we were a family of 2 adults and 2 children) and clean, breakfast was very good. Only downside was the parking which was a bit pricey and the overall cost of the stay, again on the pricey side. but all in all a very good choice

Great location if you come for a seminar by train to Lyon Perrache. Take the exit Court Savoie or Rue Carnot and the hotel is only a few meters on the left. Reception is at the same level then the train station exits. Very handy. Train and metro 4 stations. Very nice decor as this is an old château. Breakfast OK but not amazing for 19 euros. Nice hotel, rooms are clean and spacious. The parking underneath is a subject for prior booking! We have got no place to park. Unfortunately the personnel could not make us a breakfast to takeaway for an early checkout, which I though is a standard around the world.

I stayed here one night while travelling on business.. What an amazing place.. especially the building it's self! It's a gem from the turn of the last century .. The interior designers have done a good job preserving the original features, although I guess some were lost in under the demand for modern facilities.. If true?.. that's our fault! It has a central location beside the railway station....

The hotel is undergoing renovations. The main entrance is from the rear of the building, into a parking area, then into a hall way. In the hallway sits a person behind a small, cheap desk. And so it goes.

I was very happy with the value for the money paid. Staff was nice & helpful. Comfortable bed and large bathroom (not often that this happens in Europe). Small fridge in room with nearby grocery stores if you don’t want to eat out 3 meals/day. Just a few blocks from the metro and walkable to “Old Lyon.” I will definitely stay here again when I come back to Lyon.

Found this place through Secret Escapes, but it is nowhere near their ordinary standard. This is a regular 3 star hotel. Fine at neat and very reasonably priced - but nothing special.

Everything is clean, but keep in mind it's a 2 star hotel, so rooms are small and very basic. Make sure when booking of whether room has aircon or not when booking as rooms without a/c are very hot in summer. There is no lift, so it's not a good idea to book here if you have heavy bags. For a day traveller travelling light, it's fine.

Location of this hotel is not bad. Parking also exists and they have own places. The room is also fine and a team is friendly. For me always important that a mattress is comfortable, otherwise i cannot sleep and here the mattress was good.

Our courtyard room (view shown in picture) is large and tastefully decorated. Although some of the furniture is slightly tired looking, it's still pleasing. We often go to this hotel when we visit Lyon. It’s a small but cozy place, with a great lounge downstairs that is empty most of the time. the location is great and there’s parking spaces nearby. Love the view of the river, the unique feel of the bed sheets and the pillows. It’s clean and comfortable. I’d definitely recommend this place
