Massilia hôtel

First of all if using BOLT/UBER to get here, use the lication as 59 Rue des Dominicaines, OTHERWISE Hotel Massilia will give you a wrong kication and you will get charged extra by the driver. FAIR WARNING. I believe this hostel is excellent value. The continental breakfast is adequate - but iverpriced at 10.50€. Nice to have milk with the cereal (Corn Flakes??). Nice baguettes to slice. Some days they have warm croissants. Various cheeses - each wrapped as a single serving. Fresh fruit. Bottled juices too. Coffee machine. The room was xmall, but nice for a single traveller. Good bathroom/wetroom actually - no shower enclosure. They provide dixposable slippers to use while showering so you don't slip. I did not use that shower, but sat on the floor instead. Still adequate. 😉 Ģood value. Safe, very quiet and immaculate - very clean. Hot water kettle cups and tea bags/coffee sachels was nice to gave in my room. A 10 minute walk down the nearby main street (turn L at hotel entrance, walk 50m to main street then turn right and walk maybe 100 meters) gets you to a Turkish-run grill (Sar?? Grill) with a good non-gourmet style of good food.

Nice location but a bit dangerous at night. The street where it locates is dirty too but the hotel itself is clean.

Very conveniently located for Gare St Charles, about a five minute walk. 24 hour reception, so ideal for my late arrival. Decent room (with kettle and coffee/green tea) and a comfortable bed. Functional bathroom. Breakfast was okay, but not sure it was worth €10.50.

This hotel was ideal, for what I needed, arriving quite late at night and on my own : somewhere clean and comfortable near the railway station. The staff on Reception were always helpful. My room, on the 1st floor, was fine for single occupancy, but might have been rather small for a couple with luggage. It was great to have a kettle in the room, to make tea and coffee: this is uncommon in France, but was one reason I decided to choose this hotel. I didn't try the breakfast, since I was heading down towards the port where there are many cafes. For anyone who needs it, the is a small Carrefour supermarket not far away by the station, and a good cheap Asian restaurant (Saveurs de Dong) on the main road near the hotel. I was able to leave my luggage with Reception when I checked out, and collect it in the afternoon to fit in with my plans. All in all, I would definitely choose this hotel again in similar circumstances.

Gorgeous hostel, kept very clean. Good location close to the train station and short walk to the centre of town (harbour and shops) as well as in between attractions such as the Notre Dam and fountain. All the staff we met were helpful, friendly and welcoming. The other guests were also friendly and good company, lovely courtyard and having a bar was a nice touch. Only downside is breakfast was not included and the room was a bit chilly at night.

The staff are fantastic, knowledgeable and friendly and the facilities are great for a hostel too! I stayed in the large dorm room out the back, and there was plenty of toilets and bathrooms so I was never kept waiting - the beds were clean and comfortable enough 👍
It's also really easy to get to from the train station/bus terminus. You'll have a great time in Marseille if you stay here! Would definitely recommend!

Vertigo hostel is not like any any posh hostel like generators or St. Christopher Inn. But that doesn't mean it's not good. I have been to many hostel across Europe and for the first time I felt it like a home like place. The staffs of the hostel try their best to provide more than what resources they have. The luggage room is for free. The breakfast is for 5 euros but with limited options on buffet. Toilets are clean. If you enter the hostel, you might observe that the place was not meant to be an hostel but somehow they have converted it well into hostel. Location wise it's well connected just opposite to St. Charles Station and métros. Evenings are wonderful there near bar, where all hostlers hangout and share experiences. The quality of hostlers are good as you will find many experienced travellers all around the world in this hostel. Overall I stayed there for just one night but I was satisfied with my choice of this hostel.
