Hotel Le Faubourg Opera in Paris

Don’t trust any of the positive reviews, either they are super old, paid/fake, or these people have extremely low standards of living.

I booked this hotel last minute in a time constrained situation so I couldn’t do much research in advance. I booked it for 3 nights but only barely survived 1 night. There were bed bugs in the bed sheets, water was actually leaking from the roof onto the bed and floor (plus moldy residue because it’s been there so long), and the hair dryer had LIVE exposed wiring that I literally could have died from (luckily I just suffered a minor burn).
I notified the front desk and their behavior was shockingly indifferent. It was like they hear this every day and they had zero care. They refused to give me a refund and the only thing they could offer is a different room in their neighboring hotel. F no. I took videos and pictures of EVERYTHING before checking out. I had zero sleep and went straight to the local laundromat and threw all my clothes in the wash/dryer.

Please trust your gut and listen to the negative reviews and do NOT book this hotel. I know the hotel is cheap, but unless you have VERY low standards and already live with bed bugs, mold, and a leaking roof, you will literally get no sleep. It is not worth the headache of having to fight with the front desk and credit card company and pursue legal action just to save a few bucks.

It was one of the worst experiences I ever came across.
The bathroom door with lock was broken. Pillows and duvet cover were stained. Room wall was mouldy. Breakfast was named only.
Absolutely sad experience.

We’re traveling through Western Europe from Canada and have stayed in many places along the way. We chose this hotel in Paris for its central location and relatively budget-friendly price. However, our experience last night was truly shocking.

There were rats running and scratching inside the walls, making so much noise it was honestly unbearable. We were supposed to stay for two nights but ended up leaving after the first. (Watch the video)

To make matters worse, the hotel staff claimed that the noises were caused by pigeons that had somehow gotten into the walls :) —an explanation that was as absurd as it was frustrating.

Avoid this hotel at all costs!
