We stayed here twice in 2 weeks (on way to and from Brittany) and it was great both times. The rooms, food and facilities are all fantastic but it's the staff that set it apart.
On our way back, we'd had a 5 hour journey from near Brest and arrived at the hotel in rush hour, pretty tired and stressed.
The hotel concierge on the desk seemed to understand immediately. He gently slowed things down by pouring us a glass of iced tea (remarking it was a hot day) and helping direct the kids to the toilets. He put us completely at ease and, when we'd booked in, his colleague talked us through a map of Rouen suggesting things to see and where we could eat that evening.
It's this kind of service that can make the difference and it's a real skill.
If you're travelling as a family, looking for a relaxing stop over or for a base to explore the beautiful city of Rouen, this is it.

I have stayed in a lot of Mercure hotels and this was the most disappointing. The room we had was tired. The curtains had holes in, there was chipped bits around the sockets in the bathroom and a socket had been removed meaning we had to pull the fridge out and un plug it each time we wanted to use the kettle. The reception staff were OK but not overly friendly, I am used to being greeted as I walk into a hotel but this didn't happen at any time. On the plus side the beds were comfortable.

The room was nice enough but very small. That in itself is not an issue, only having a double bed rather than a king-size was disappointing. I cant remember the last time a hotel didn't have a king size bed.
The parking is very secure and not expensive. However in order to exit you have to go right to the bottom level and then go up again via very narrow and steep ramps/turns. If you have a low car or a large car then not recommended to park there.

Nice clean comfortable room , very good size. The staff were very helpful. Good restaurant and bar. It's about a 15 min flat walk into the old centre which is wonderful. Underground parking is available. Would recommend.

If you can't find other more distinctive hotels, you can consider this international chain. It's a bit old, but it has everything you need. It's also very convenient in the city center. There is also a parking lot with reasonable fees.

It's an old facility, but considering it's in Europe, it's a decent standard. There are many famous tourist attractions near the hotel, so you can get to them all on foot. The parking lot is underground, and you have to pay the parking fee first to get out.

My apologies to the hotel for originally giving a one-star rating. I accidentally hit submit without realizing it. An honest mistake. I have updated the rating. It is based on these factors: (1) The elevator button to our floor completely fell off the panel, so we could not select it to get to our room. Fortunately, we were on the first floor and were able to take the stairs. (2) The room main electrical outlet located on the desk was not working. (3) There was a big yellow stain on the mattress topper's edge, and the room had a strong musty smell. But once the air conditioning was on for a bit, it helped with alleviating the smell. It would be nice if the air conditioning was turned on in the room, like some other hotels, before the guests arrived. The best part was the hotel location, which is walking distance from the central part of the town. Overall, it appears regular up-keep haven't been done for some time.
