Chryssi Akti Hotel

The most disappointing hotel experience I have ever had. The showers only had cold water, the rooms were extremely outdated, with old sheets and spring mattresses that caused back pain. The breakfast was very poor, made with the cheapest products possible. On top of that, they charged €10 per day for air conditioning, even though I had already paid €166 per night. This hotel was a complete disappointment and I would definitely not recommend it. Staying here was by far the worst decision I’ve made when choosing accommodation.

If you are unlucky, you might get a room near the smoking area. In that case, forget about opening your curtains — everyone passing by will be looking directly into your room. If you’re on the other side, you face the street, which means constant noise from traffic and no privacy either way. There are no mosquito nets, so if you open the window, you get bitten all night. The Wi-Fi doesn’t work in the rooms at all. The bathroom has mold, and warm water is available only at certain hours of the day — but there’s no fixed schedule, so you just have to “try your luck.”

After “cleaning,” I returned to find my room door left wide open. All my belongings were inside, and since the room opens toward a public street area, literally anyone could have walked in. I still don’t know if everything is in place — the lack of basic security is shocking.

Everything you might need — a safety box, air conditioning, late check-out — costs extra. The only thing free here is breathing. Breakfast is extremely poor: some bread (in various conditions), tomato, cucumber, and eggs. That’s it.

Around the swimming pool, most of the sunbeds are “busy” all day, but in reality, they’re just covered with towels that people put in the morning and then leave. So when you come, you can’t use them, even though they’re empty.

If you park your car in a way the hotel owner or staff doesn’t like, you may find an unfriendly note stuck to your car as a “warning” — even if there is no sign saying parking is not allowed. In my case, the space was apparently “reserved” for a staff member, but without any marking or notice. I’m not a mind reader, so how could I know?

When I asked to change my room, I was met with shouting from the staff that “there are no rooms.” Meanwhile, you can clearly see guests leaving and new ones arriving every day — they just don’t want to help.

I have stayed in many 3-star hotels, so I wasn’t expecting luxury, but I am honestly shocked at how unfriendly, unsafe, and unpleasant this stay was — especially for a price around €1,300 per week. I strongly recommend paying a little more and going to a normal hotel. I wish someone had warned me before booking this place.

After our flight was cancelled, the airline sent us to this hotel. The good thing: it's right at the beach, not far away from the bars and restaurants in Argassi.
On the other hand the room was far from new or renovated and a little bit smelly. No Wifi in the room available, only in the lobby. AC worked well, after we picked up the remote control at the reception.
Overall experience rather poor.

I would say that the appearance of outside of the hotel and the reception is very deceiving. At first it seems a really nice place to stay in. The things change when you enter your room where you can find for example:
- weird red stains on the mirror of unknown origin,
- dirty bed sheets (supposedly changed before our arrival),
- not even mentioning the mattress. I saw just a little piece of it when the bed sheet moved a little bit after I slept and the stain that I saw was so gross I don't even know what to say,
- the pool was supposed to be closed at 8 30pm but the personel asked everyone out around 7 55pm,
- we were informed that the hotel has its own wifi. Well, in fact it does, but basically you can use only in the lobby, next to reception desk, because it doesn't reach any further
- this was no surprise because we were warned in the hotel description that you have to pay for air conditioning. Personally, I think that in countries with such high temperatures as Greece the air conditioning should be mandatory in all accommodations (maybe with a little fee). Genuinely, I believe that it should be a standard in those countries, not an addition. But besides the price given on the website is not what you actually have to pay. In reality it's 10€ per day,
- breakfasts are not sophisticated, but edible. However even here I have something to question. The food given to guests has no description therefore you are not really able to differentiate the salty things from sweet ones. It was even a bigger problem for me, as a vegeterian. Imagine my surprise, when after taking something that on top looked liked scrambled eggs casserole with vegetables, I found ham inside. I wasn't happy about that,
- another thing that hotel lacks are lunchboxes. Usually, if you go on a trip earlier than the scheduled hotel breakfast, you can ask for a lunchbox instead, so you have something to eat in the morning and don't lose your money. Due to the fact that this hotel doesn't offer this service they proposed us "earlier breakfast" which was supposed to be as the receptionist said 'only coffee and cake'. (Here, I didn't have to worry about my vegetarian option). In reality they didn't even bother giving us milk and even though we were the only room that asked for earlier breakfast at least 10 different people ate our meal too because no one watched over who eats it.
On the other hand there were some avantages as well, like:
- mattress was comfortable which is something I pay attention to due to my back issues,
- the fridge in the room was super big as for a hotel. It was half of size of regular fridges, which means that it was twice bigger than the usual hotel ones,
- receptionist was nice and speaks English quite well so we didn't have problems with communication,
- the hotel has very good access to the sea. You literally just need to leave the building and you are already at the beach,
- even though hotel doesn't have pool itself, it shares it with a hotel paradise next to it, so guests can use it freely,
- hotel's location is very convenient for tourists, situated in a really lovely area,
Summing everything up I'd say that this hotel can only be recommended to someone who's planning to just sleep here and spend all days travelling or outside of the hotel. Otherwise I would definitely advise to choose a different accommodation.

You should not stay here, you have to pay for a 30 years old AC and you can't even try it. You have to pay for it for the rest of your stay, and the room is a joke, no blanket and very weak WLAN. And no safe in the room. The only good thing is the beach at the hotel. Don't stay here if you want a good stay

Location is good, but the hotel is terrible, far from a 3 star hotel, old interior, air-conditioning to be paid extra and THEN IS NOT WORKING FOR 3 DAYS IN A ROW (there was 28’C at night and it was so hot, but they didn’t care at all), beds uncomfortable, bathroom awful, breakfast extremely poor choice.. No wifi in rooms. Very low value for price! Would not recommend!!
