Akti Imperial Deluxe Resort & Spa Dolce by Wyndham

just got back from 11 nights at Akti as a party of three. I wanted to give an honest review, my initial thoughts, beautiful hotel, clean, friendly staff, with a really good selection of food. As the days wore on, these were our honest observations: Sunbeds: read about the difficulty getting sunbeds, especially in the shade. This was true, with people going down as early as 4.30 in the morning to lay towels out. if you went down at 9 it was near impossible to get anywhere, beach was easier to find beds. lifeguards: none on the beach, saw about three on and off, mostly huddled in a corner on their phones. Not great. lifts: three brake downs while we were there, one time trapping a man inside, he told us he pushed the alarm but the person on the other end couldn’t speak english. The lifts were small, very hot and creaked. Most people i met were not happy with them. After the man got stuck we started using the stairs. These were accessed through doors marked staff only or fire exit. Power outages: Appeared to be lots of power cuts lasting short periods of time Food: could not fault the selection, we didn’t get bored at all. Tried the chinese, italian and greek themed restaurants. The chinese was lovely and the service perfect. I tried to get some small bottles of water from the beach bar, as the indoor bar said this was the only place to get them a blond woman serving got really upset and angry with me asking who told me to go there for them and she would give them this time but keep the bottles and refill from the water stations. i felt like a 12 year old, no idea what that was about. Three days before we left to come home one of our party ( who doesn’t drink before anyone suggests that) came down with really bad sickness and diarrhoea, this came on in the middle of the night and i’m not exaggerating to say it was literally running out of her. I needed water for her and went downstairs first thing. i tried everywhere for a bottle of water and no one would give it to me, reception said they would get the man who restocks the drink to leave an extra bottle, in the meantime i went back upstairs for an empty bottle and filled it at the water stations. This “bug” lasted 24 hrs, the other two of us didn’t get it luckily. I used the loo by the quiet pool and I could hear someone else who was obviously not well either. I paid a lot of money for this holiday and expect to be able to get fresh bottled water from any of the bars or reception as and when needed. I can’t say we didn’t enjoy the holiday but it was spoilt by the sickness. we wash our hands and used the sanitiser which is around the place but noticed not many people bothered. The hotel is marketed as 5 star, it isn’t, in my opinion it’s a good 3. We won’t be returning due mainly to the very clear ongoing issue with sickness, I understand we were not the only family the sickness hit
