Reviews
▪️upon arrival at around 10:30pm we were greeted by a helpful man on reception who checked us in quickly and offered us food for us and our 3 children. Although basic was a very very nice gesture.
▪️The room we found to be clean with good air-conditioning and nice shower facilities, yes the kitchen area is a little dated however serves the purpose with a good sized fridge for our water. The room was cleaned regularly and fresh towels were provided every other day.
▪️The pool was clean and there was plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas. They also allow inflatables which is great for the children.
▪️the pizzas served for evening meal were freshly made in there Woodfired oven. These were delicious and what we pretty much lived on (see negatives)
▪️we found the location to be close to the beach which was handy with 3 children.
▪️entertainment was provided a few nights whilst we were there although not out cup of tea but thats personal preference.
Now the negatives
▪️unfortunately on the second day my husband got food poisoning which put a real dampener to the first few days of our holiday as he couldnt get off the toilet. Were unsure if it was from the pork with vegetables or the beef with tomatoes as these are the only dishes that he ate and me and the children didn't. Both dishes were repeated daily as were alot of the other dishes. From then on we lived on pizza and chips and the one night they didnt do pizza we all just had a plate of chips. Due to the lack of trust of the food after my husbands food poisoning we decided to eat out on two nights at some local taverns which we absolutely loved even though we had paid for half board at the hotel. Breakfast was very basic and the coffee was awful.
▪️although there is a sign saying the pool area gets slippy when wet i thought i wouldn't mention this for people who are thinking of going with children. Unfortunately my youngest slipped several times and has some pretty decent bruises to show for it.
▪️although there are signs saying not to reserve sunbeds and that staff will remove belongings this didnt happen and unfortunately some guests did reserve sunbeds all day which was really frustrating.
▪️ the pool is extremely cold but this is expected with a fresh water pool and the time of year.
▪️the games room is extremely run down, chairs falling apart and not very appealing to the children.
Although there are some positives to this hotel the food situation really let it down as you dont expect to go on holiday and get food poisoning.
The restaurant staff truly operate on a top level – drinks are served at the table, you can see genuine care for the guests and willingness to help. The pizza was delicious straight from the oven, and the pita gyros was amazing! The chef really did a great job :) Most of the waiters were smiling and pleasant – special recognition goes to an older gentleman, possibly the manager, who even tried to speak in our language :)
The hotel itself is neat, clean, and quiet, located in a charming area. Cozy and enjoyable. During our stay, there was no “sunbed battle” – there were enough for everyone, and most people respected the request not to reserve them in advance.
Unfortunately, there was one incident during our stay that I’d like to describe – it’s the only reason I’m giving the hotel 4 stars instead of 5.
On the third day (September 9, 2025) in the evening, I went to the reception to confirm the details of our transfer to the airport, which was included in our hotel package. To my surprise, the receptionist (an older woman, round figure, short dark wavy hair, glasses) suddenly “realized” we hadn’t paid some kind of “additional tax” of €85.
When I explained that we had paid the full amount during the booking process, she got flustered and started calculating something on her phone. When I asked for details about what the charge was for, she couldn’t explain it – she just kept repeating “85 euros.” I offered to bring the booking documents (luckily, I had printed everything). At that point, she told me to come back later when the manager was available. Of course, after that, no one ever brought up the issue again – suddenly no one knew anything about the “extra fee.”
I don’t want to call it an attempted scam, but I do think the fact that my boyfriend (who spoke to her earlier and doesn’t speak very good English) was involved may have made her feel encouraged to try and charge something extra. Just a little heads-up – be aware and always ask for payment details if something doesn’t seem right :)
There was also some hassle arranging our airport taxi – which was included in the price of our stay. I had to go to the reception four times to get a confirmation, which was a bit annoying. Even the day before our departure, we still didn’t know if a driver had been arranged, despite having paid for it.
Morning reception staff were very polite and helpful – unfortunately, the lady on the evening shift is not suitable for this role. She was quite unpleasant and unprofessional in her customer interactions.
For the actual review, it's a great small family-run hotel. It strikes the perfect balance between folks looking for a full active all-inclusive experience and a relaxing and calm place. Because it is small, you can have peace of mind with the room and kids. You get a great value for money, with a great restaurant, friendly and welcoming staff, and a great localization for going for trips around Crete.
