Unfortunately our room had no daylight, a very hard bed and no real bedcover which made our night quite cold. The location however was good and the owner very friendly.

I was looking forward to my stay in Nafplion, however my experience staying at the Polyxenia was quite the opposite of what I expected. I was traveling by bicycle and when I arrived after 100ks cycling the lady could hardly speak any English but I was told I could not store the bike in the hotel absolutely anywhere despite it being totally clean and not much bigger than a large suitcase. Eight previous hotels in the Peloponnese gladly stored it, mostly without issue in my room. I was told to *leave it outside* This is a 5k euro bike we are talking about and my means of transport. Anyway a kind gentleman at a local filling station was very welcoming and he let me store it there.

After walking back the main owner was there who was only interested in my passport details and yelled bikes are not allowed. I was laiden with bags and just walked ten minutes back so as you can imagine I just needed the room for a shower so said I would give it to her later.

Rooms honest opinion - If you value your sleep this is definitely not the place for you. Like other guests noted the floors are made from wood and you can hear every bang, creak or noise when someone moves in the above or adjacent room. The bed had clean sheets but had a low quality mattress which along with the noise meant getting any sleep was difficult . Booking website said Mountain or Landmark view, I got neither. In fact it was a prison cell style widow at high level with no view, so the air was musty with no ventilation.

Bathroom - Everything works and with hot water but it's very dated with cracked floor tiles. You cannot have a decent shower as you cannot hang the shower head, you have to shower, soap and shower again while trying to hold it.

Breakfast. Forget it. It's not worth the 9 euros for awful filter coffee and cheap supermarket bread and donut. Go outside to a local bakery for half the price and for far better quality produce & press machine coffee. I ate the Greek yoghurt and left everything else. No eggs, "didn't have any today" I was told despite the marketing photos showing bowls of fruit and fresh egg. It was a pathetic offering and is just another way to extract more money from you.

On presenting my passport to the owner I thought to ask for some advice on the area and for a bit of information on booking tickets for a ferry, either from the port or online. I was told "just go to the tourist information centre at the end of the street", she was not interested. I've got your details now, and your money, go away was the impression I felt.

In summary, a really poor property with owners who are only interested in your money. I have just cycled through and around the Peloponnese and this property fell way below expectations on every level and was the worst, accomodation & experience of hospitality I have had in Greece, It really has left a bad taste after meeting so many wonderful hosts at other establishments. Checking booking it does highlight no parking and of course I knew this, but it also states guest luggage storage, clearly this is not the case. I could understand if the hotel was five star with gleaming marble but it's a one star pension which only has the location going for it, absolutely nothing else.

This is a totally honest review and is my experience of the Polyxenia Hotel Nafplion Old Town.

Never book this place! Pictures are not accurate, there is no balcony and the rooms have no air and no light.
Worst bed i have seen since i travel, you don’t sleep.
The responsible will be angry if you complain of course.
This a shame that booking still propose this hotel.

The location is the only good thing about this place. We were given the smallest room I ever stayed in. 2 ppl in 2.5x4.5 m2, with a 140 bed, put agianst the wall obviously. One place to put one bag up. No cupboard. 3 hooks on the wall and the same amount of hangers. The only window facing a wall 3 m ahead and looking down at 4 gigantic fans running all day/night. Central AC in the room was ok, though noicy. Room was on second floor, small narrow stairs, no one offered to help with luggage. This could be a decent single room with a 90 bed, chair and small table. But chargeing 82 € /night is just a scam. If they had been honest about the room as the pictures clearly show larger rooms I would never booked it. Hard to change when you stand there a Friday afternoon at the bigest holiday season :c

The owners of Polyxenia Hotels are scam artists. DO NOT STAY HERE.

I booked a "double or twin room" with a balcony on Booking. During checkout, it makes you select double or twin, so I chose double because why not. I was splurging on this hotel as I was visiting Nafplio on a workcation and knew I'd be spending the majority of my time in the room.

When I arrived, I was given a room the equivalent of a dungeon with a window that didn't open. I immediately asked to be switched to the room I booked and they said there were no doubles with balconies, despite their listing saying otherwise.

I stayed for one night and the next morning asked to change my reservation as they could not provide me with the hotel room I booked or switch me to a twin with a balcony.

The owner went crazy, began screaming in both English and Greek, and would not allow me to speak a word. She called her sister in to join in on the yelling. As a solo traveler, I felt unsafe and left immediately.

They illegally charged my card for the 5 nights, despite being unable to give me the room booked. I am still fighting to get this money returned, as it totals almost $400.

Do yourself a favor and do NOT stay here.

Wrong advertisement on booking. Rude customer service, they don't deserve even 1 star.
We booked a room with two seperate beds but they did not have it available so we wanted to cancel but they did not accept the cancellation. it was saying free cancellation. We called them. the lady who answered was shouting did not allow us to talk. I kindly asked her to let me talk but she continued her rude.

DO NOT BOOK HERE!

Be aware!! This hotel is owned by scammers.
I booked 2 nights. They advertised the room with a balcony and private bathroom with bathtub. None of the things advertised with were in the room I booked. The rooms are dark without windows and smell very bad.

I asked for another room or my money back. The got extremely hostile towards me and wouldn't do anything for me. They told me I should just leave and they keep my money.

Be aware!! DO NOT BOOK HERE

A building from the 1850s, nicely decorated, warm and hospitable! A very good option to rest near the city centre of the old town and the local market!
