Where to stay in Catania

Big room… good wifi… The pool had traces of ash from the volcano, but it was clean… Good breakfast… Free shuttle to and from the airport… And everything was clean… The air conditioning worked very well… If I come back, I will choose the same hotel

A hotel nearby the airport for a great price. The rooms are very large and almost in order. We were unlucky once when the air conditioning was broken and went out after 10 minutes (Which is annoying in a warm country like Italy). The rooms are spacious and cofirtbale, on our side of the building you can see the Etna erupting but from the other side the view is to a rooftop. The bathroom is great with soap included. The price is also pretty good. There is also a pool available for use in the day.

We stayed the night here on our last day in Sicily since we had a super early flight, and we didn’t want to make the drive early in the morning from Taormina. This is NOT a four star establishment. The check in process took some time because even with four people present, only one employee was checking people in, despite three other families waiting to check. This hotel is so big I feel like one could run a marathon here. The amount of rooms is insane! The rooms are huge, equipped with a balcony and very interesting views. If, like us, you have read the reviews, then your expectations will be managed before you get there. It may have been 4* 25 years ago, but it isn't now, but i think that's matched by the under 100 euros price point. For us, it was an easy stay after a late flight. The room smelled cigarette smoke and there was a cigarette pack in the bin that was not cleaned. We asked to change the room and the reception employee gave us another room immediately.

Stayed there for two weeks, very attentive stuffs, clean rooms, no problems whatsoever. Some rooms need renovation (I moved from one room to another), but overall still very solid classic hotel.

The staff was great. The room was everything I needed after having a flight cancelled and having to book a room in short notice.

We were only here for one night, but we thought this hotel was great. Beautiful inside, amazing breakfast spread, good location. The rooftop restaurant was a great restaurant option. The only negative piece of feedback would be the size of the room we stayed in. The bathroom was nice and big, but the bed was pretty much the only thing that fit in the rest of the room. I had a great stay there. The staffs were friendly and helpful. My flight was cancelled that I went back to the hotel. I checked out already as my flight was supposed to be very early. They still let me go back to my room to stay until the usual check out hours even though the cleaning ladies had already started the cleaning.

Former Grand Hotel Centrale, eighteenth century, fairly restored. Personnel interaction with the guests accordingly company policy on the site. Cleaning protocols adapted to the contemporary times. Rooftop restaurant with an excellent view on the volcano.

Positives : Very central. Rooftop bar was nice. Beds and room comfortable during the summer. Afternoon housekeeping checks on you to see if you need anything (soap, shower gel, coffee for machine etc). Staff were very helpful. To work on : It would be great if they had a swimming pool.

A beautiful hotel set on the cliff just outside Catania - rooms are big, have AC, well serviced, great pool (30m plus x 20), great pool bar, amazing buffet breakfast, access to sea. Lovely for a family holiday.

We were only going to stay one night and ended up staying two. We found the room to be quiet and comfortable. The reason why I give only 4 stars is the (lack of) wellness and spa facilities. The heated pool outside and the wellness and spa center was unavailable, unfortunately 🥺 The sun terrace was closed too, even though the weather was great. The staff here are amazing, especially the ladies at the reception they’re very helpful, helped me with the directions and how to use the transportation. The area around the hotel is so beautiful. I like the breakfast here as well, delicious. The downside: The rooms are old, the hotel needs renovation, and the location is far from the city.

Nice hotel for conferences and other types of events. Away from Catania center, the offer of other services in the area like restaurants is very limited. But being so close to the sea is always a plus (no beaches, though). The rooms are comfortable, the food at the hotel is good (but not spectacular).

About 30 minutes from Catania with a few local restaurants but no shops. The staff at this site make up for the sites short falls. This site is for most a conference centre against a holiday hotel. Medium good hotel. Clean, cozy, but with a few remarks on the maintenance. The air conditioning at the reception works at full speed, while the room is almost not felt.

The bed feels like a motel 8 bed. The wall paper is Peeling in the rooms and hallway. I would have given this place a 2 star but I enjoyed the bathroom size

The hotel is really clean, the attention was really kind and efficient, when I have an issue they helped me. Breakfast is tasty (because covid no buffet but they will give you what you want) the waiter are really kind. Other positive point is related rooms, they will leave you the room really tidy I like it. The only thing, sometime the internet connection was not so stable.

The excelsior was a nice stay in Catania primarily because of it's location. It is centrally located and near many points of interest and restaurants. The hotel staff was very helpful and spoke English, if one needs that. The rooms are a bit outdated but they were comfortable. It was noisy at night though, especially facing the front of the hotel.

Vincenzo at the front desk is amazing and very accommodating. Gave us great recommendations on where to eat, like Nitto was one of the best meals we had in Sicily. Exceptional service for this class. Friendly staff, polite and guest-orientated reception. Fresh, basic breakfast with a twist. Clean rooms, with minimal and quality interior. Superb beds. I was looking for a hotel where I can stay relatively close to the town centre and easy access to various places in the Eastern part of Sicily. Airone city Hotel was in the perfect location for me as I was always driving. Room was nice and clean (top marks!) and the staff members were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is fine but our bathroom sink was half clogged and breakfast is expensive - 24€ per person. You also have to wait for the barman to come back every time you want a drink. That being said, the pool and the staff are nice.

The best hotel in Catania. The position is great, rigth in front of the sea. Near the hotel you can find everything: bar, restaurant, supermarket, atm, Tabasco’s all in 200 meters from the hotel. The dwelling is located in the central part of the city, within 10 minute walk from all tourist attractions and shops. We had a great suite in this nice hotel at a great location. The breakfast service was disappointing with only 1 person and no ability to self serve or even make your own coffee. With various sweet cakes, white toast, and other unhealthy options the scrambled eggs were the only thing I could eat, time to change the traditional choices I would say. We picked this hotel for it's proximity to the airport (our flight was 6am). It was clean and quiet, which was all we needed for a short night's sleep before our early wake up call. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

A great hotel needs the location, the rooms, the amenities including breakfast and a good price, and above all the staff, it is only ever as good as the staff and here they are great. Not least Antonio who manages the bar, great drinks with a huge smile, a banquet of nibbles thrown in - and always a bit of old fashioned philosophy. We always come back.

I had to book this hotel last minute (litterally booked 10 minutes before i walked in). The staff was super helpful, the rooms were great. Best bed and pillow i've had in Europe. And the air conditioner worked (also rare in Europe).
