Reviews
My husband and I celebrated our silver wedding anniversary here in June and it was magical!! Giuseppe, the Director of Events, made it so easy to arrange a seamless celebration for us. The menu was amazing, the decor, flowers, music, setting and fabulous attentive staff made it the most wonderful experience for us that we will treasure forever! Thank you Hotel Parco Dei Principi.
Don't miss the sunsets they are dreamy!
The positives were that the hotel was visually stunning and had fascinating interior design reminiscent of classic 1960s Italy. It had a wonderful beach area with a swimming cove, massive botanical gardens, and a chic swimming pool.
The problems started when I ate a fish sandwich prepared by the Blue Bar after checking in. After about 2 hours, my entire body developed an anaphylactic-like reaction. This is strange because I had never had food allergies before, but after going to the emergency room, we discovered it was due to histamine poisoning from improperly stored fish. This may have been a result of improper storage by the fisherman and may or may not have been the hotel’s fault, but they should still obtain their food from reputable sources. And to top it all off, they did not even remove the sandwich from our bill (despite having to pay ER fees!)
After getting back from the hospital, we noticed the rancid smell of sewage permeating throughout our entire room. We brought this up to staff and they simply sprayed a perfume to unsuccessfully mask the odor. We also noticed that this was not unique to our room, and to a lesser degree also affected common areas such as the lobby, elevators down to the beach, and the gym.
At the end of the stay, we were very excited to check out and move to a different hotel where we were not made sick by the food or the smells.
We used a travel agent for our trip, and beforehand, they told us the rooms were slightly dated, but the property was stunning. Knowing that, my expectations were low for the rooms, but honestly, we loved our room, and it was so spacious! It's a more simplistic mid-century modern style because it echoes the original design. There's a lot of history in the design and furniture, and we were fascinated by the background! The only things that felt dated to us were the hallways leading to the rooms and the gym, which didn't really matter.
The property itself is HUGE! There is a beautiful garden as you drive in that you can get a tour of or walk on your own, a pool that we didn't get to use too much because we were primarily at the beach, and a gorgeous terrace where you can get drinks,, or food or just hang out. There's a private beach and jetty with beach chairs to which you can take an elevator or traverse down the cliff. There's also a restaurant and bar down there, and we ordered pizzas at the beach, and it was some of the best pizza we had on our trip!! There's also a shuttle from the hotel to the city center, or you can walk there, which is about a 25-minute walk. We did both the shuttle and the walk, and it's just up to how you feel!
One of the best parts was the breakfast!!! You get to look out at the coast, the Tyrrhenian Sea, and Mount Vesuvius while sipping your cappuccino. The buffet has great options, the view is stunning, and the staff is wonderful. I wish I was there right now!!
The only regret of our stay was not staying longer. We look forward to coming back!
The deluxe rooms are spacious with good amenities, bath robes, and slippers. The shower is in the bath, which is disappointing.
Service is fantastic with a turn-down option each night. Rooms are very clean, and the king-size bed extremely comfortable.
Buffet breakfast is adequate, though not spectacular, as I've encountered in other 5 star hotels.
A lift takes you right down to the beach and swimming area where you'll also find a restaurant open for lunch.
A shuttle service is available throughout the day to assist travelling into Sorrento town, which is a brisk 20-minute walk.
