Amazing hotel in Stresa on shore of Lake Maggiore. Just cross the road and you are at the lakeside. I can't give full score since I had one of the small single rooms towards the back. My company was at the front with balcony and lake view and said they were in heaven. Everywhere is beautifully maintained and comfortable though. The reception is very welcoming and friendly. Wifi is good.

I have just returned from a Blake's tour to lake Maggiore.we stayed at this hotel . I could not fault it .The staff were brilliant the meals were great,and the rooms were good(the only reason I gave 4stars was we had no view. It is situated on the lake near the ferry and tourist boats

This hotel is located in a great location, beautiful views of the lake and the staff is outstanding! The trains went on strike the day of our departure and the staff worked for hours to find us alternative transportation. I highly recommend this hotel. We had a great stay there!

Hotel Astoria has rooms that feel a bit worn, and any renovations that may have been done appear to have been carried out carelessly. It was unpleasant to find small spiders on the ceiling, and the rooms were not cleaned as thoroughly as they should have been. Very well furnished and maintained hotel with great location on the water front. We had room with two balconies with mesmerizing view of the lake and the promenade. The journey from the airport to hotel was terrible, but the stay at the hotel was very good. At midnight, the hotel owner welcomed us and tells us the most important information. Service is better than what i would expect from a 3-star hotel. The food in the restaurant is also very good and reasonably priced for the area. Lovely hotel. Brilliant location for exploring Stresa, the islands and getting the cable car. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. Stresa and Lake Maggiore are not to be missed. The Moderno makes a good base. I suggest you ask about the rooms before selecting, as the hotel encompasses several buildings and the rooms vary. The Hotel is a good value for the price, but it is ageing and somewhat dated. We like firm mattresses and our room had the firmest mattress ever!

Right next to the pier, you can easily take a cruise around the lake. The hotel provides free parking spaces, but you can ask the front desk if you can't find them. The room is large and it is very comfortable to sunbathe on the balcony.

It's a great hotel!! However, if you do not drive it is quite a walk into Stressa. So a taxi is needed it costs roughly 15€. You do get the most amazing views. Breakfast is very simple but you have a wide variety of continental options. No hot breakfast options.

The attitude of the hotel owners was almost unbelievably good! They we trying hard to advice you where to go, what to see, what tours to buy etc. And their advices were not for profit, they never asked you to mention their names or something - they simply wanted you to enjoy their area.

Hotel is ok for the price. The owner is very friendly. No air conditioning and what we did not enjoy was that each time we went out, the owners came in the room (more than once a day). Otherwise very central to the nice places of Stresa.

Kind of old-school style european hotel - but in a good way. Staff was freindly and the hotel is very well located for restaurants and ferry trips. A moderate walk down the hill from the train station. Some rooms require walking up stairs and this can be tiring for older folks. The low price reflects lack of fancy style, but it is clean and well run.

The rooms are functional. Bathroom OK. No fridge. Breakfast was good. Location is excellent. Unfortunately my room had no view just a window looking out onto a brick wall. This is a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night here, especially the gorgeous view from our comfortable room and we only wish that we could have stayed another night. Stayed here 1w. Good location about 15mins gentle walk along the front into town. We had a great view of the lake. Good size rooms. Clean. Fridge and coffee making facilities. Nice breakfasts either in the dining area or on the terrace. Plenty of loungers by pool but not allowed to take your own water bottles-alcohol and soft drinks I can understand they want you to get at their pool bar but water...

The hotel is very nice with a walking distance of about 10 minutes to the centre. The breakfast included e.g scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, bread and yogurt. The double room was beautiful with a large terrace with view of the lake Maggiore. The air conditioning was almost ok, with limited temperature. The pool area was quiet and still.

This was our second visit to this hotel, and we had enjoyed our first stay so much that part of our reason for returning to Stresa was to repeat it. We had a wonderful room with a spacious balcony overlooking gorgeous Lago Maggiore, very clean and quiet.
