This is a beautiful hotel and the staff, particularly at the restaurant are some of the best staff you could ever have. The hotel is lovely and the rooms are spacious. The only down size is that there is no iron in the room and they do not bring one if you ask. And no kettle or coffee machine in the room either. Apart from those points, it is a beautiful place to visit.

Beautiful hotel with very good amenities. The indoor and outdoor pools were the highlight as they were big enough to accommodate many guests without it feeling cramped. Excellent breakfast too! Beds could be slightly more comfortable and the carpets tend to be slippery but other than that, excellent hotel for a great stay.

Great location as it's near the main ferry to get to Isola Bella, Isola Madre, and Isola Superiore. The hotel staff are warm and friendly. The cleaning staff was very affectionate and kind when we asked for a warmer blanket. Room was clean and comfortable. And the lake view was incredible.

Hotel Royal was close to the cablecar, and you also take a ferry from the same location. It's 10mins downhill walk to the cablecar/dock. The attitude of the hotel owners was almost unbelievably good! They we trying hard to advice you where to go, what to see, what tours to buy etc. And their advices were not for profit, they never asked you to mention their names or something - they simply wanted you to enjoy their area.

Hotel is ok for the price. The owner is very friendly. No air conditioning and what we did not enjoy was that each time we went out, the owners came in the room (more than once a day). Otherwise very central to the nice places of Stresa.

Pretty good for the price. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was made passable by the cappuccinos. The room was a little bit cramped, the bathroom small and a little moldy and, sadly the hotel needs a bit of maintenance, but they welcomed our dogs which was awesome and the view was great. The gardens are huge, a great place to chill and full of small lizards which was super fun to watch.

We had the most fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms have the most fantastic views and we had 3 balconies to choose from. We would highly recommend this as a great place to stay in a great location close to ferry (3 mins walk) and center (5 mins walk).

Small family-run hotel, welcoming and with rooms and services worthy of 3 stars. They also offer the possibility of ordering dinner, which is much appreciated considering that the hotel is in a small isolated village and we didn't want to go down to Stresa for dinner. Stresa and Lake Maggiore are not to be missed. The Moderno makes a good base. I suggest you ask about the rooms before selecting, as the hotel encompasses several buildings and the rooms vary. The Hotel is a good value for the price, but it is ageing and somewhat dated. We like firm mattresses and our room had the firmest mattress ever!

Place is good. Near to lake and within 5 minutes walk you can catch the boat to the Isolas of Stresa.

The hotel itself was nice. The local staff definitely made the experience. The food was excellent and the waitresses were so friendly. They went out of their way to help you -- one of them even looked up the weather for my family. I'd recommend the trout fillet, along with the verdure cotte. The house wine was also excellent.
