Hotel Regina Palace

Charged us for a room that we had canceled in person a month previous and the woman at the front desk said we were all set. We were not! They called on the night that we had previously canceled to tell us that they were charging us for the room. We said no, we're coming a month later. They refused to refund or credit us the week we were going to be there. It put a damper ($2200!) on a hotel that we had visited frequently and even referred friends who also went there on our recommendation. When we did arrive, we figured we could straighten it out with management. We are good customers, spend a ton of money in their restaurants, and they previously verbally confirmed we were all set. We even spoke to the person who told us that. She remembered us. They were unwilling to budge. We disputed the charge with Amex and they are working on it. Needless to say, we or our friends will never set foot in that establishment again. It's sad too because we really love the hotel. Our only other gripe is that when we call the front desk for info or towels, they act like we are causing them an inconvenience. Rude and unprofessional, hence the one star for service.

Very old-fashioned cheap tour group hotel - I counted six coaches in the driveway. No provision to put your own items in the mini bar fridge which has an automated charging system if you’re remove any items. There are no tea /coffee making facilities provided in the rooms. Coffee is available but at a cost. There is also no bottled water provided. Finally, they do not provide iron or ironing boards whatsoever. You need to use their laundry service. to top it off I had to call to reception to ask for soap for the bathroom and I would not be surprised if I am charged for the tiny little cake of soap. This is the most ridiculously run hotel I’ve ever encountered. The abundance of dusty plastic plants and flowers and cheap chandeliers kind of says it all really. The view is spectacular!

Very frustrating service, AC is turned off while rooms are 28c!! Can’t even offer an iron/press service in a decent time manner, and the staff is reluctant, unhelpful and arrogant.
