Our family of four spent 2 nights at the hotel during our trip to Venice. The staff was very helpful, friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived. The hotel arranged our transport from the train station (water taxi and porter) and on our departure (porter, water taxi and car to the airport), paid in cash upon arrival. The room had a king size bed in the main room and a fold out double bed for our children. The hotel is very quiet and the air conditioning worked very well during the hot and humid weather in Venice. They remind you to keep the windows shut due to mosquitoes, which we saw while walking around. It is a very good location ~10 minutes walk from St. Mark’s and ~5 minutes from Rialto Bridge, plenty of restaurants and shops very close by. We had a fruit basket in our room on arrival, with a very nice and tasty selection of fruit, and sparkling wine was delivered on our first afternoon. The included hotel breakfast had cold and hot selections and coffee made to order. The hotel and facilities are a bit older, but are kept up well and clean. A great and comfortable place to stay to explore Venice, and the hotel offers several tours (some free, some paid) for their guests, as well.

Stayed here for three nights during a long weekend break. Hotel is beautiful, staff are extremely friendly and it’s in a great location. Room service visited everyday and each evening we would come back to a bottle of water by the bed and a goodnight label, a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend. Great breakfast selection as well which can be added to booking or just added to your bill at the end if you don’t opt for it when booking!

Hotel a La Commedia exceeded my expectations! Situated in a fantastic location, just a 3-minute walk from the Rialto Bridge, it's perfect for exploring Venice. The rooms were comfortable and clean, albeit a bit basic. However, what truly stood out was the exceptional staff who were incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout my stay. Highly recommend for a convenient and pleasant Venice experience.

Where to start. To say the hotel was the unexpected highlight of our trip to Venice would be an understatement.

We arrived 30 minutes early and were able to check-in with no added charges. All of the staff we encountered during our stay were polite, friendly and helpful with all our needs. They even looked after our bags after we had checked out and we received bottled water every evening when we got back to the room, this was also done at no charge.

Our stay included breakfast every morning - which we had plentiful amounts. A wide range of foods, including deliciously smoked salmon and apricot jam croissants.

Now to the reason why we picked this hotel; the location. While Venice itself is not very large so as long as you stay somewhere situated on the main island, you will be relatively close to all of the main tourist locations. However, at the A La Commedia you are only 100m away from the Rialto Bridge and therefore all the restaurants, shops and grocery stores you will need to visit during your stay.

To begin to wrap up this longer review, the most important part of any hotel, the rooms. They are very traditionally Italian. It is certainly not modern in the slightest but that is not what you really expect from a Renaissance city such as Venice. Unfortunately, my only complaints are to do with the room. Firstly, the electrics and sockets in our room were somewhat faulty - having issues with charging devices and the provided hairdryer turning off. Secondly, our television remote did not work, to which I am guessing is due to a dead battery but as we did not come to Venice to watch TV, this wasn't a problem for us (TV did switch on using the control panel). Lastly, we did also have issues with the thermostat as it was often too hot in the room as it would not permanently change to a lower temperature.

I will finish by saying that none of these issues impacted our stay enough to complain to staff, it is just worth noting for transparency.

This hotel was fantastic! It was centrally located to anywhere we wanted to go! It was an easy walk to San Marco, the ferries to Murano and even a quick walk from the train station. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with so many of our questions

Beautiful hotel with welcoming staff members! The breakfast staff were exceptionally kind! Conveniently located, while still feeling peaceful. Highly recommend!

Great “quality” hotel in Venice! I didn’t like the fact that they ask you to leave the keys with them when going out and pick them up when returning. Very unnecessary and they have their made up reasonings. Definitely recommend otherwise..

Is just spectacular! From our junior suite view, to the service, to fresh waters every time we left & returned. The breakfast was amazing & had the best cappuccinos & fresh squeezed orange juice we had in all of Italy in 21 days. The breakfast staff were friendly & great. The hotel staff was extremely helpful & accommodating from the second the door opened. We came in smelly & tiered from 30 hours of travel to arrive & we were treated like royalty in our own palace. Words can not properly explain or describe how much we loved the Hotel A La Commedia! By far, our favorite & most recommend single place of all our travels in Italy. It's just spectacular! Thank you!
p.s. Some have noted that they make you leave the room key when you exit the hotel. Yes, that is true. However, it is not as some may imply. They are keeping you from losing a difficult to replace key as well as using to know when they can perform services to your room. It was like a luxury and / or "turn down" service of sorts after you are used to it. There was always someone there at the front desk to quickly & politely get key for us every time. Actually, most of the time, two or more were there at a time. Also, we did not speak much Italian upon arriving, and it was not an issue as all employees we had spoke English rather well. We traveled with two adults & one nine year old daughter.

Beautiful authentic hotel in the heart of Venice! Very comfortable and clean. The staff were honestly the best part. Super friendly, extremely accommodating, nothing was too much to ask. And they gave us the best recommendations for dinner both nights.

Warmly recommended. Polished and refined. Good breakfast. Excellent central location. Slightly priced higher but then again all Venetian hotels are expensive.
