Mosaic Hotel in Riga

I stayed at this hotel last summer. The Latvia trip is the best I have ever had, except that this hotel left a blemish on my experience. Firstly, the hotel staff was extremely rude to Asians. On one night, I forgot their entrance’s passcode and got yelled at by the receptionist, who spoke broken English with a strong Russian accent. I did not see them treating White guests the same way. Next, on each floor, everyone had to share a stinky bathroom. Lastly, when I expressed concerns on their Booking.com page, not only did they deny everything, but also they spread lies under my review, accusing me of lacking English command when their staff members were the ones who could barely speak it (they probably thought that non-whites could not speak European languages). The hotel is not as close to the attractions as it is said to be. This hotel has been closed since last winter. I don’t know why, but I would advise against anyone staying here if it reopened.

Guest protection please
Unfortunately, my room at the Mosaic had bedbugs and I awoke with approximately 50 bites. I asked the employee what their policy was to deal with this infestation so that they could get rid of them.
She consulted someone by phone and declared they have no policy, but they could refund any future nights if I left. The most they could do was change the sheets but only the following day. I had been hoping they would consider it a big enough problem that they would fumigate to ensure that no future guests would be bitten.
I was deeply concerned about bringing bedbugs to my next hotel so I decided to stay the next night (mistake!) and they allowed me to wash and dry my clothes for ONLY €15, how kind.
Of course, the second night, I doubled the number of swollen, itchy bites, and knew I could not stay. I did not ask for a refund of my third night so of course I had paid for three nights in exchange for about 100 bedbug bites.
One problem with bedbugs is that only a certain percentage of humans manifest a reaction to their bites, so probably plenty of people are carrying them from place to place and not realizing it. If I am the one who tells you your hotel has bedbugs, believe me! Eventually some other guest will get them too, so PLEASE have a policy for eradicating them before they spread.

The shower was out of hot water and we had to go upstairs and shower by the breakfast area. The staff showed irritation when my husband at first didn't find it and she had to show him where it was. The eggs at breakfast were too hard boiled and the coffee in the coffee machine burnt. All of this are things possible to change. This can be a really nice hotel!
