Review of the stay at Pavillion Social Club Hotel, Belgrade, Serbia

The stay at the Pavillion Social Club Hotel left mixed impressions. The reception staff were polite, which was one of the few positives. The hotel is conveniently located, a 15-minute walk from the main park, and there are many cafes and restaurants in the area, making it an ideal location for exploring the city.

However, there were several downsides to note. The rooms had poor soundproofing, especially annoying was that the balcony was shared with the neighboring room, reducing the sense of privacy and comfort. The room itself had an uncomfortable elongated shape, and the noise from both the corridor and the street was extremely annoying. Shower problems, with constant blockages causing water to flood not only the bathroom but also the carpet in the room, created not only inconvenience but also questions about the hygiene of the space.

Breakfast at the hotel also left much to be desired. Instead of the promised buffet, a limited menu was offered, the dishes from which were far from tasty. After the first time, we decided not to visit the hotel breakfast at all. The main lobby was constantly smoky, despite Serbia allowing smoking, the smell in the lobby was so strong that it created a feeling of discomfort. Loud music in the same space made it impossible to use it during the day for relaxation or work.

Room cleaning also became a disappointment. Despite hanging a sign requesting not to disturb, one of the maids regularly barged into the room without knocking, which is an unacceptable violation of privacy. In addition to this, the presence of carpets everywhere in the hotel contributed to retaining the smell of tobacco, making the atmosphere even more stifling.

The positives, such as food delivery through the service, where orders were left at the reception, and the comfortable bed, although noticeable, could not fully outweigh the significant drawbacks. Morning noise from crows and other animals, as well as noise from cleaners in the corridor early in the morning, made comfortable rest impossible.

In conclusion, while the hotel may boast a central location and polite staff, shortcomings in space organization, service quality, and overall comfort seriously overshadowed the overall impression of the stay. I recommend paying attention to improving sound insulation, cleaning quality, and restaurant service.

Nice place, BUT! Music parties at groundfloor till 1 am! at Friday, without any possibility to sleep in your room, because of the sound is smth you have to inform in advance your guests. This are not standards of the hotels for such price at least.

Disgusting food, actual menu is different to the menu on website. Pasta with mushrooms was just awful. Schnitzel seemed to be prepared from cheap smelly pork, it was so hard that could hardly be eaten. The menu doesn’t correspond to such a sophisticated place, I would not recommend to visit it at all.

Our first meal in Belgrade unfortunately turned out to be a huge disappointment. The nice pictures and website didn't match our experience at all. After sitting for five to ten minutes and deciding on a white wine, we informed the waiter of our choice, only to be told it was unfortunately sold out and we had to choose another - fair enough, these things happen. We made another selection and then spent another 5-10 minutes contemplating our food choices. We discussed our choices with our waiter, who then informed us that they didn't have 2/3 of what we saw on the menu. Why wasn't this communicated from the beginning? At the table, we ordered tuna tartare, tartare, ceviche, burrata salad for starters, and fish and chips, grilled skewer, schnitzel, and some pork for mains. The tuna tartare didn't seem fresh, the burrata salad lacked seasoning, the tartare was a large lump of meat with no flavor, served with a slice of butter as the only accompaniment. There were bones in our fish and chips, the fries were completely white and lukewarm, and the grilled skewer was dry. When we wanted to wash it down with a beer, unfortunately, we were told they didn't have any beer either. Finally, when we just wanted to leave and pay, they demanded cash for their card machine "not working" - again, no information about this upon arrival. It turned out to be a lie, of course, because when we complained loudly, they suddenly could find a working terminal. Overall, a dull experience.
