Reviews
Unfortunately, our experience was marred by several issues. The Wi-Fi was non-functional for the first four days, and despite multiple requests, the staff couldn’t resolve the problem. As digital nomads, reliable internet is crucial, and this setback significantly impacted our productivity. Additionally, the overhead shower in our room was inoperative, and the handheld shower lacked sufficient pressure, causing water to spill onto the bathroom floor.
The resort’s secluded location posed transportation challenges. It was difficult to secure Grab rides, and the distance to bustling areas or the beach made walking impractical. Often, the grab drivers would drop us on the wrong side so we would have to hike through foliage to get to the resort through a shortcut. Although the resort offered a complimentary shuttle service, it was frequently delayed. They also provided motorbike rentals though they were covered in cobwebs. Literally.
On a positive note, the building’s contemporary design was appealing, and the bed provided a comfortable night’s sleep.
One evening, after waiting over 30 minutes for the delayed shuttle, we struck up a conversation with another couple facing the same predicament. Sharing our travel stories and frustrations led to an impromptu dinner together, turning a negative situation into a memorable connection.
While The Woods Natural Park Resort boasts modern aesthetics and comfortable accommodations, the unreliable Wi-Fi and remote location make it less suitable for digital nomads or travelers without personal transportation. If you’re seeking a secluded retreat and have your own means of getting around, it might be a fit. However, for those reliant on internet connectivity and easy access to local attractions, we recommend exploring other options.
While you’re there in Phuket, definitely check out the Carnival of Magic of an evening. Epic.
1. The hotel is really far away from the beach or any shops / restaurants. They do offer a shuttle but if you miss the return at 8pm finding a mode of transport to return is extremely hard.
2. The pool is hardly a pool. Its a an elongated plunge pool where more than 3 adults cannot swim together. Its a very narrow and tight pool space.
3. The breakfast is not ala carte but a fixed menu of some rice , eggs and sandwich with ice cold cappuccino and insipid tea. Portion size is very small and you cannot order more than 1 item. This breakfast will not fill your appetite. If you order an item and you don't like it, you cannot change it because each person can only order 1 item. The staff always had a morose look on their faces, not a nice way to start happy day
4. The only hotel where the room didn't have a full size mirror. All you have is a small mirror on the wash basin in the bathroom.
5. The locker in the room was not functional. After complaining they put another locker ( portable )
6. The AC stopped working in the middle of the night. We opened the balcony door to make the room airy and were attacked by a thousand mosquitos.
7. The room has a kettle and coffee maker but the hotel doesn't provide water. you have to buy a plastic bottle ( cringe ).
8. They only give 2 free plastic ( again cringe ) water bottle ( 300ml ) each day. For two adults in the Phuket humidity and even otherwise it is just not enough. For a person like me who hates single use plastic it was impossible to explain to the staff to give drinking water in a glass jar / carafe / kettle.
9. They don't have in room dining. If hunger attacks after 7 pm then you need to die - lol ! because there is no room service and no eating places in the neighborhood. The restaurant where fixed breakfast is served closes at 6 pm
10. The property is totally cut off from any shops / daily needs / cafe/ pubs etc
We really had an awful time at this property. It is more of a serviced apartment in a gated community .
Will not recommend to anyone !
but in reality just one building without great panoramas is operational because the other buildings with nice views are not the property of the hotel.
And it's not same quality than in photos. Need maintenance.
The air conditioner is directly on the room balcony and make a lot of noise, cannot sleep with it on.
There are not seats with backrest and are plain wood without any soft part, very uncomfortable to seat on. Neither can seat to use the computer with it.
At the lobby there is not any ventilation so very hot and get sweaty in 30 seconds.🙄
The swimming pool was not cleaned.
Must improve and not misleading the clients.
👍Overall it's clean, clean bed.
😮💨Should remove the very fat female recepcionist, it's disgusting to look at fat people.
Also the pool is very small compared to photos
Upon arrival, I was met with the unpleasant odor emanating from the towels provided. It was immediately apparent that cleanliness was not a priority, as the entire establishment was marked by an alarming level of neglect. Mold on the ceiling was not only unsightly but also a potential health concern.
Moreover, the amenities were in a state of disrepair. The TV was non-functional, the air conditioning, a crucial necessity in the tropical climate of Phuket, was also inoperative, leading to discomfort and sleepless nights.
The hygiene standards in this establishment left much to be desired. The state of the toilet was deplorable and simply unfit for use. What is more, the cleaning service was provided merely once a week, forcing guests to endure unsanitary conditions for an extended duration.
The communication with the host was virtually non-existent, as my attempts to reach them were met with silence and indifference. The staff, regrettably, displayed a lack of friendliness and failed to demonstrate any concern for the well-being of guests.
In a perplexing manner, the establishment charged extra for electricity, a practice that deviates from reasonable standards of hospitality.
Furthermore, the presence of an abundance of insects within the premises was deeply unsettling. It significantly impeded the ability to enjoy the stay in any capacity.
In light of these numerous and grievous shortcomings, I strongly advise prospective travelers to exercise prudence and seek alternative accommodations in Phuket. The experience I endured at this establishment was nothing short of dismal, and it is my hope that others are spared from such an unfortunate stay.
