My entire stay was first class. The location is central and close to major venues in downtown. The lobby and common spaces were very clean. The gym and pool were amazing, clean, and top tier. My room was spacious, clean, and quiet. I would definitely return to the Stephen F Austin Royal Sonesta.

Great experience. Really polite check in. The hotel was fairly empty so we got an upgrade to a bigger room! Location is great easily walkable to almost everywhere in the downtown area. Price was reasonable for the location.

Got room at a discount with price line yet was still very much so full service paid for the valet service which was absolutely necessary with the craziness of downtown Austin, yet wad completely worth it! Staff was very attentive and friendly! Especially our main valet we had Geraldo, who was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and made sure that we were taken care of even to the point of helping us bring all of our bags down to the car when we were leaving, and we forgot to check out because we were still going out to see more of austin that day but Geraldo took care of it for us and advised the check out desk that we were checking out as so that we would not get charged for a checkout! Truly made us feel like part of their family and would highly recommend a stay at the Steven F Austin Royal Sonesta hotel!!

Location, location, location sums up this place. You will overpay for your room here considering the dated condition of the room and lack of services, but you are paying for convenience. Bring your own shampoo and soap, because the provided shampoo barely made a lather. The breakfast cafe is painfully slow. An omelet in an empty cafe shouldn’t take 30 minutes, so skip it and go some place else and just grab and go something if you have a busy day. Not sure if all the hotels in downtown Austin are in this condition, but I have had better stays in far less expensive hotels.

We loved the hotel upon arrival! It’s beautiful and has a lot of charm. However, once we got to our room, the bathroom lights didn’t work. We told the bellhop and he said he would contact the engineer to have it fixed. That didn’t happen, but they finally cut on after pressing the button quite a few times. The restaurant downstairs “Roaring Fork” was delicious but we didn’t get to save our leftovers because we didn’t have a fridge, nor a microwave to heat them. Once we were finished with dinner, we wanted to spend some time in the hot tub, but it was out of order and the pool was freezing cold. We were charged double for parking because we have a truck. We made our complaints to front desk about it all, but all we received was attitude. As beautiful as this hotel is, we won’t be returning. We will find somewhere else to spend $200 a night that has the amenities we look for in a hotel.

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel last month and the experience was amazing. The hotel staff was friendly and proactive. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We booked the governor’s suite which was the size of a one bedroom apartment. The main reason why we chose this particular hotel was due to the restaurant, Roaring Fork. Food and drinks were great. For breakfast, we went to the café downstairs I absolutely adored the Frenchman, 😊The hotel is a walking distance from the capital and there are convenient stores around the corner. Our small child was able to walk with my husband with no complaints.. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to visit again.

The start of my journey to the entrance of the Stephen F. Austin Hotel was impressive. Mainly because of the staff, location and amenities. Anthony runs a tight ship, taking care of all customer service points. When you arrived at the service desk, you were pleased with the ease of checking in, receiving important information about amenities, and tips on how to best enjoy the area 😀👍. The rooms were cozy, clean and comfortable. Plenty of space, great service when needed, and hidden treasures of coffee service in the cabinet for entertaining. A great location close to the Texas State Capitol and also to the very vibrant 6th Street. Our suite was most comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff at Reception and the Porters were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would be happy to recommend this hotel.
