DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Intercontinental Airport

The best thing I can say about this hotel is the DoubleTree standard of getting a warm cookie each day of your stay. Outside of that, the rooms are very disappointing-- old and dated; the bath tub paint was peeling under my feet; only one tiny window in the corner of the room for a sliver of natural, outside light.

My work has me travel for weeks at a time, often having to do laundry while on the road. Color me surprised when, in a hotel with more than 300 rooms, there was only a single washer and single dryer.

I checked with the front desk to make sure there wasn't guest laundry on another floor, they confirmed it was just the one machine.

"That's never been a problem in the past? No one has ever complained about a lone washer and dryer?"

"Only when we have large groups."

Isn't that what a hotel is? Are we kidding?

They ended up suggesting I use the Sheraton's guest laundry across the street, so that's what I did.

My group stays here year after year out of convenience more than anything else, though I'd be really interested to see how the rooms stack up at the Sheraton, considering how much time I spend doing laundry there every year.
