Houston Airport Marriott at George Bush Intercontinental Hotel

BEWARE; before using the hotel parking garage. I’ve been a platinum member for more than 8 years and I’ve never experienced such poor customer service. I called the manager on duty “Peyton” for Marriott IAH to dispute charges that were made for on-site parking. She was a bit confrontational when she told me she would not honor the promotional code that I asked be applied for free parking. She said they charge a higher room rate when booking for the so called parking “promotion” and was unwilling accommodate any changes. She said they offer a lower parking rate when attaching the parking charge to the room bill and I was lucky I didn’t have to pay the higher rate at the garage. I went on to explain to her the payment kiosk was not even working at the garage exit gate anyways and it was wide open (for cars to just go as they please). When I called the front desk to make sure they knew the receptionist said not to worry about paying!!! There’s no telling how many were told, “Don’t worry about paying” due to the broken kiosk… Yet they were unwilling to apply a promotion I requested due to their booking protocol?!?! Is it too much to ask for the higher “promotional” free parking room rate be applied to this stay for being a Marriott loyalist?!?! I’m sure it would be less than the ~$300 dollars I was charged for parking alone in addition to the ~$200 room rate.

The only positive about this Marriott Hotel is its convenient location of being directly within the airport.
I am used to the Marriott having a certain level of service and cleanliness.
There was mold in our shower in both the rooms we stayed in. There are no late night food options and there are no vending machines.
You pay a premium for the convenience of its proximity to the airport, but do not anticipate a premium stay.

This was a business trip, so I wasn't expecting much. However, when you hear Marriott, you expect a certain level of service and cleanliness. The room was not clean. The fridge was running hot, the a/c was turned off, and it was 86° outside. The room was at 78° when I checked in. I brought this to front desk attention, and nothing was done. No apologies and no offer to move rooms. It was in the weekend and we had no car due to it being a business trip so we decided to call in for food. No delivery service would bring food unless i agreed to step off the property. This made me feel even more uncomfortable as if something happens at this location that they are all trying to hide. Needles to say, i have suggested to the organization that they might want to check out other locations for the future.
