Allure Hotel & Conference Centre, Ascend Hotel Collection

Stayed here this weekend. Was in a “pet friendly” room and when we walked in my little chihuahua went under bed which when he came out with a chicken wing bone. Took it away and he went back under and came out with a piece of pizza that looked to be about 5 years old. Look under beds and there were socks, cigarette butts, empty pop cans, so much garbage. Cob webs all over room. Not impressed. $400 for 2 days. I wouldn’t even rate it a 1. Very disappointed.

This is an old hotel that appears to have been rebranded. I was attending a wedding and booked a room as this is where the room block was held.

Upon checking in, I was told a $50 deposit was being added to the bill and that it would be refunded 3-4 business days after checking out. I have been a very frequent traveler and have spent hundreds of nights in hotels. I've never seen one that adds a deposit to your bill. The vast majority put a hold charge on your credit card which is wiped upon check-out or take a deposit but then deduct it from your final bill. The Allure also took full payment + the deposit at check-in.

As soon as we entered the rooms corridor, there were a bunch of young hockey kids running up and down the hallways while their parents sat in chairs in the hallway drinking beer and chatting. Great first impression!

I had a king room that was old and showing its age. You could smell the residue from past smokers. The bathroom was small and thought it looked clean, it felt dirty. Even the water coming out of the faucet had an odour.

A friend in another room found a crack pipe in the room!

Upon returning from the wedding at 1:30am, there were still kids running in the hallways as well as adults walking up and down the hallways making noise and slamming doors.

There doesn't appear to be any digital check-in or check-out so you have to return to the front desk to check out. It just occurred to me that I wasn't actually given a copy of the bill (or even offered one) and am so accustomed to having it email to me through an app, forgot to ask for one.

Needless to say, I won't be staying at this property again and do not recommend it to anyone else.

Overall not a pleasant experience. Rooms are not being maintained as evidenced by the cracked and peeling ceiling, soap dish hanging off the wall. Pool is advertised as heated and our young northern boys said it was really cold. Hot tub was out of service. Parking lot was not plowed (not until late Saturday) and had a foot of snow. Carpets in the hallways are old and puckered and a tripping hazard.
Wifi was constantly disconnecting.
This hotel screams of under staffing and lack of maintenance. Overall, it feels as though cutting costs and time are the priority here and not the safety or comfort of their guests.
We stayed here for a hockey tournament (Fri-Sun) and I was not the only one who had given a thumbs down. We will recommend to our hockey association to remove this hotel as one of the required hotels for hockey stays.

Hotel is ok.. but not great. wifi was very bad. kept disconnecting and losing connection. staff weren't much help.
Restaurant buffet was expensive and food was horrible (cold, not enough selection, poor service). A heads up would be no rooms available with 2 queen beds. Options are either a king and a pullout couch or a queen and a pullout couch. we made it work but the kids didn't sleep the best. staff were pleasant. keep in mind when booking that only part of the hotel has elevators and those rooms are upgrades. you might have to lug your bags up a few flights of stairs for the standard rooms.

This place was a dump. Location was convenient and pillows were good but those were the only positives. Not good value. The place was filthy. There are cleaner hotels that include breakfast and offer better value. Had to leave my heavy cooler in the car as there didn’t seem to be an elevator. Avoid this hotel

There this past weekend for a hockey tournament, everyone with our team that i talked too felt the same as me. No breakfast included with our stay, carpets were old and stained, only had double beds that were old and hard. Wouldn’t stay here again! Place is a hole in the ground. Only good thing about the horrible hotel is the location, other than that stay the hell away from this dump!!!
