Rooms and prices

Description
" amaroo " (emphasis in pronunciation like "kangaroo") means " a beautiful place ". For us, that means feeling good. In our apartments and rooms at four different locations, we have created this feel-good atmosphere with modern comfort.
We are a small, owner-managed family business and have lived in this beautiful city of Potsdam since 2012. We want to provide our guests with a cozy and comfortable accommodation for their stay in our adopted home, so that they are as enthusiastic about Potsdam as we are.
Brandenburger Str. 69 is located at the end of Brandenburger Straße at the Brandenburg Gate. This part of Brandenburger Straße is a purely pedestrian zone. Here and in the numerous side streets you will find everything from cafés and restaurants to boutiques and department stores. Potsdam's wonderful sights are also in the immediate vicinity.
Our apartments 5 and 6 are located in the back building of the historical property and can be reached via the small inner courtyard.
Apartment 5 is on the 1st floor. Apartment 6 is on the 2nd floor with a small private roof terrace. Both units have their own washing machine.
The stylish apartments offer a fully equipped open kitchen, a table with four seats and a sofa bed in the living area. In the separate bedroom, there is a double bed and a wardrobe. The ceiling fans in the living area and bedroom provide a pleasant breeze of fresh air when it gets a little warmer.
Hotel opened in 2010.

Reviews
This so-called four-star hotel barely qualifies as a three-star. The property is old, poorly maintained, and in dire need of renovation. My first assigned room (023) on the ground floor was a disaster—smelling of sweat and grease, with a “balcony” that turned out to be a glass door opening into a parking lot. It didn’t even have a proper lock, making it unsafe.
After requesting a higher floor, I was moved to a room with filthy carpets, mold in the bathroom, and twin beds so uncomfortable I couldn’t sleep, even after a 10-hour flight. Pillows? Flat and unusable. Despite showing photographic proof to the receptionist, I had to wait until the afternoon to change rooms, losing half my day.
The third room was marginally better—cleaner carpets but still smelled like sewage, with a broken shower door and a non-functioning telephone. I had to keep the window open in cold weather just to air it out. Meanwhile, my white colleague was assigned a clean, well-furnished room with a great view from the start. A conversation with another guest, a woman of color, confirmed this pattern—she had also been given a subpar room and was considering leaving the hotel entirely.
Room 300, in particular, is unfit for any guest until the carpets are replaced, the walls repainted, and the bathroom properly cleaned.
The only redeeming features of this hotel were its convenient location and the breakfast setting—not the food itself, which was repetitive and uninspiring, served with what felt like reheated leftovers every day of my four-night stay.
This place is not worth your money—or your dignity. Avoid it.
The hotel exudes boutique charm, with a smaller number of rooms that add an intimate, personalized feel. Breakfast is a highlight, offering a delightful variety of options to start your day. The staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful, ensuring that your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. One note: the elevator system can be a bit quirky, as you may need to switch for certain rooms.
Pro tip: Look for packages that include free breakfast, room upgrades (with minibars), and tickets to the world-class Barberini Museum, showcasing some of the greatest Impressionist works. It’s a fantastic way to enhance your stay!
The location is ideal for city center walks and sightseeings. There are plenty od restaurants, cafes and shops nearby.
The rooms are spacious, clean and very well soundproofed. I also liked the smell of the room parfume. Beds were comfortable, pillows soft and flat, but there is an option to get new ones. The only missing thing was tea and coffee service. Minibar is available.
The dinning are and reception is cozy and designed in nice and stylish architecture. The brekfasts were rich and delicious. The staff was professional and friendly.
