Service was great overall! The staff that were in charge of all the water activities were very nice and helpful when it came to informing my family and I about the banana boat and kayaking

The staff are amazing and work very hard. The beach is nice and lots of chairs, it's never an issue to find a seat. Very close to go into town for a day of shopping

The food was delicious and diversified, especially the fruits. Mine favorite was melon water 🍉. The beach was good not excellent, but good. The stuff was gently and discreet, ever in position

There were some small negatives but in general impression is excellent 👌. The rooms need a little bit of renovation but they were very clean and well maintained

Good location, good food, staff friendly. Animation team does a great job of interacting with guest. Played the same songs each night

Great for a weekend getaway if you live in the interior and definitely a great place to stay that won't break the bank

Entertainment was new everyday even the outside games were different lot of nice people

Overall it was great, but at some point the AC in my room did break

Asides from the the service from everyone was impeccable our roomkeeper Maritza was phenomenal and very attentive to us!! Gracias Maritza! Do not buy your souvenirs at the hotel i bought 6 bracelets that totaled to 2500 DOP which is equivalent to around 40 bucks

Older looking rooms but very clean and air-conditioning excellent. The resort had delicious buffet, snack bars and restaurants

Place has a very amazing view between beach and mountains, mattresses are a little to hard, all the employees were very nice and helpful, pool is big and well maintained, my boyfriend only had an issue with a cleaning lady that she wouldn’t let him go in the bathroom without a towel just because he was wet

They have theme restaurants for which you don’t need a reservation which is nice. There’s only one big pool and a smaller one. the setup of this resort is not conducive to visiting the beach

As a matter of fact, they recommend you to enjoy the pool instead of the beach. The service received at all restaurants, the bartenders, the front desk, the cleaning staff was great

It's the perfect location, perfect size and the food is always so good! We requested the same room as last time as in my opinion it's the best location (16103, SunClub family section) and we got it! Obviously requests aren't guaranteed, but they definitely came through for us 😃

This was our second time at this resort and it was just as good as our last visit. We are absolutely devastated for it to be closing at the end of April

The room we booked is SO big (basically two rooms made into one), so there is tons of room for activities

Jacqueline who does the excursion is wonderful. So many options and things to do. The food was good, you just have to make sure you make reservations in advance for the restaurants or you'll be at the buffet

if you are vegetarian like me, Food options can be limited but no different from other resorts. Loved fruits but go early for better quality. Try Italian restaurant, it's good

I was told this resort is over 40 years old and 1 of the few that's left in Puerto Plata. So keep this in mind when booking. Majority of the staff were pleasant and always nice

Checked in to The Grand Paradise on Saturday and I absolutely love it here. It is beyond beautiful and the service at Cooee is amazing. Everyone here really goes the extra mile to make you happy, I never want leave.

Great part of the hotel. Nice employee and great atmosphere. Calm and relaxing holiday you will have for sure. And if you like business and entertainment you walk 2 min to the other pool and you can enjoy that

Can recommend the upgrade to cooee as it gives your stay besides an exclusive touch, access to vip area, a frequently changing snack bar as well as table service

Must have a golf cart if you want to go anywhere comfortably. First room we had, housekeeping was sub-par. Due to terrible May rain, our room flooded but the desk gave us a new room the next night

On the third day, my partner and I's ankles started to bother us and it became a little difficult for us to walk. There is a bar everywhere, although it is also true that the drinks are not the best

At the other resorts, the food was also excellent, but the drinks were also bad. Check-out is at 11:30AM and you are allowed to enjoy the facilities until 3PM

The housekeeping staff for the new room was amazing and very attentive. All inclusive means all inclusive. Food was good but changed daily

We were very surprised that check-in is at 3PM, they don't let you enter before, you have to wait sitting in the lobby. Thank goodness they started allowing check-in at 2PM and we managed to eat at the buffet

Had a great time here. Didn’t stay in there hotel we stop from a cruise. At the beach we had a bartender that went above and beyond to make sure we had a fresh and cold drinks at all times.

Their primary language is Spanish, but didn't have any issues communicating with anyone. Plus, I had Google translate as a back up. Never needed it! The drinks were delicious and as strong as you want them

I loved it their my family vacation reunion was great and the stuff made it even better With ther amazing hospitality and the activities guys by the pool aerobic and dance and contest were great 👍 congratulations and see you again planing girls trip with my lady's here

Pool bar ran out of favorite drink after me getting 3 drinks and never restocked, the concierge assigned to us did not care for us as customers he just saw us as a commission, he didn’t file our complaints neither was interested in doing so

My first time and has been a fantastic time food is great at all restaurants, pools are clean and refreshing especially the swim bar. The entertainment is awesome with shows and games during the day

There are several restaurants throughout the resort and many of them need reservations so keep that in mind. The room I had was spacious, had a balcony, a jacuzzi, and walk in shower

We went to several resorts in the Dominican and went to every Spa to get a couple massage BUT Bagua Spa is the BEST we ever experienced- well done to the ladies !!! We look forward to come back and stay longer

This place is a must stay for this area. It is small, gorgeous, and the customer service is top notch with some of the kindest people you could hope to find. You cannot beat the rooftop pool and beach area

From the minute we walked in, to the minute we departed So much detail in the architecture the scenery and the entire staff was 💯 on point. The service was beyond amazing. They accommodate our every needs

We stayed in the Junior Suite Lanai with Ocean Front and our room was cleaned and smelled so good there was even a fruit basket to welcome us and the view from our room was stunning

Large welcoming compound a short way down a dirt road. Has excellent food, a little river to take a dip, many activities organized here. Public transport at the main road. Suitable for large families or solo travelers

SubcampDR is a wonderful place to experience the real Dominican Republic. The staff is wonderful mainly the owner/manager Diane Pellerin. She's committed to making every person feel welcome and a part of the family

If you are looking for a Real Dominican experience I highly recommend Suncamp. I cannot wait to schedule my next visit and enjoy another Sancocho Feista with all the wonderful people I met while visiting

The facilities are excellent she has upgraded the rooms and the there is hot water and excellent Wi-Fi and food if you want it. It's a comfortable place to stay for a long time or a couple of days

Of course guests are also welcome to simply lounge by the bankor swim in the beautiful river that runs right through Suncamp. She even provides a library free of charge of all her guests

The buffets are a solid B+ if you pick the right things (target made-to-order stuff). One of the groundskeepers gave me a coconut today after he cut it from a tree

At 55$ a night, this place was an UNBELIEVABLE deal and I do not understand the venom in some of these negative reviews

While writing this review, some random elderly man walked into the lobby piano and started playing concert-quality

I stayed here for 3 days in April 2018. The reviews about disrepair are accurate and some of the food is just average. That said, the staff was perfectly polite and helpful. Despite the disrepair, the place is immaculate

I've visited this resort a lot and I simply love it. The best thing about it I would say is the environment, which has an incredible positive vibe

The drinks here are better than in the bars outside. The pools and jacuzzis were very cold, I imagine because of the season. I'm surprised the hot tubs in the VIP area aren't at least temperature controlled

To start with, this was my first Caribbean resort stay, with an all inclusive option. Overall the experience was good. The food was decent, the pools were great, and the activities on the resort were fun

There's some sort of hierarchy when it comes to your resort status, and based on that you'll have access to different parts of the resort. I think you have to be an owner to really get access, but I'm not sure

The shower was large, and the balcony overlooked one of the pools. The bed was comfy, there was water, beer, and soda in the fridge that was stocked daily. Pretty standard stuff for a decent hotel

Arrival was smooth, they gave us a map and stood us what areas we had access to, as well as the schedule of events on the resort. AC kept it a cool 19C the whole time

Here are some things I wish we knew before hand: -Upon your arrival, make dinner reservations at whatever restaurants you can so you can experience food elsewhere beside the buffet

Room was nice (luxury king ocean view, new building). Service quality was very inconsistent (despite regularly tipping). Buffet is pretty good, restaurants ordinary

Would only recommend staying here if you get a really good deal

My only critique would be the food- most of the things we tried to order from the menu at the bars/restaurants were out of stock, their selection can be quite limited at times and overall the quality of their buffet was subpar, many flies hanging in/around the food

I had a great experience at this resort, the staff was absolutely superb, very friendly, polite and welcoming. Great facilities from the swimming pools, to the bars and restaurants, everything was in very good condition

There is always a nice breeze on the beach that soothes the heat feeling 😎. The only thing that needs to be improved is the night shows thought I loved the magician show on our last night there

The buffet food is average at best, but they have several small restaurants that offer higher quality options at no additional cost. The pool is nothing special and the entertainment is subpar

Also, all restaurants are not open every night so we were only able to try 2 of them. My biggest criticism is the sales pitch for the Viva membership

Typical all-inclusive resort that checks most boxes on what you would expect. The property isn't too big, and there's a path that leads you on a 5 min walk to the beach

And now guess why guests complain in the reviews that they only got plastic cups or drinks that were too soft? - If you behave in a fair and friendly manner, you will receive good service

The good is mediocre, and after a few days you feel nauseous trying to swallow it down. The resort is small and therefore nowhere to go to get away from the constant pumping music

The big hotel groups are pulling out and the smaller resorts have to fill their capacity with local weekend guests and day visitors from the cruise ships

My sunglasses broke- not the hotel’s fault but a theme is forming. Our first meal was great, Thank God, and most of the staff is friendly (except lady at front desk, very cold woman)🤨 7

The lady who is now at the front desk downgraded us “because that’s what you paid for”. The balcony lock is broken in our new room so we can’t go outside but I can see how nice it is from the window

However, it is as advertised: quiet. The entertainment shuts down at 11pm, so if you're inclined to want to want to stay up late, you'll have to find ways to entertain yourself

The pool area was nice and being an adults only resort it was quiet and serene. The beach is only a 5 minute walk or they have a shuttle take you there. They have breakfast lunch and dinner which is included
