Typical all-inclusive resort that checks most boxes on what you would expect. The property isn't too big, and there's a path that leads you on a 5 min walk to the beach. The check-in process takes way too long, even when it's done online beforehand. The lobby has a glass roof and no fans, so it can get uncomfortably hot if you're waiting around. The buffet food is average at best, but they have several small restaurants that offer higher quality options at no additional cost. The pool is nothing special and the entertainment is subpar. However, the staff is extremely attentive and friendly. I would consider visiting again for the right price.

Small resort with decent rooms, various restaurants and friendly service. You shouldn't expect any special luxury for this price.
To be clear, the days of unlimited consumption for a flat rate are also over in the Dominican Republic. The big hotel groups are pulling out and the smaller resorts have to fill their capacity with local weekend guests and day visitors from the cruise ships.
The people who work in the hotels receive modest salaries because they have to calculate with tips. And now guess why guests complain in the reviews that they only got plastic cups or drinks that were too soft? - If you behave in a fair and friendly manner, you will receive good service. We have noticed that there is a third wristband for German guests, which is below the black one for Premium and above the standard one for the others. That explains a lot.

Just getting back from the resort after staying for a week. Overall, my husband and I really loved this resort and would come back again in the future.

The resort is very small the pool, cafeteria and bar is located next to the hotel rooms. Which in a nice proximity, although it is a bit of a walk to get to the beach. We enjoyed the walk as it was located next to a pond with wildlife to enjoy. That said, I would not recommend this resort for people with mobility problems looking to be at the beach.

The beach itself is very nice, the beach was clean for the first few days that we were there and spent a lot of time on the beach, however, the beach was full of seaweed and garbage drifting in from the ocean after a few days.

The food was 50/50, my husband and I found that either the food was passable, or it was very delicious - there was no in between.

Unlike most resorts, the bar did not fill your own cups of liquor (they would allow it for beer however). Water was also pretty limited, but the restaurants and cafeteria did provide a good amount.

The service is very great, the staff were very nice and always happy to help.

One minor complaint is that since the hotel rooms are next to the pool, you could hear the music in your room until 10pm. It felt like we had no escape from noise if we wanted some quiet.

Our trip is finally ending. I wish I was home days ago. The good is mediocre, and after a few days you feel nauseous trying to swallow it down. The resort is small and therefore nowhere to go to get away from the constant pumping music. Drinks are always served in small plastic glasses so you order three a time. We saw a massive cockroach running across the dining floor at the beach, the cats ran after that. Skinny cats, we tried to feed them. I would bring cat food if I ever returned. Our room was on the third floor, bring in my sixth month of pregnancy climbing stairs multiple times a day was tiring with the humidity. The toilet in our room always seemed to hesitate to flush and twice needed plunged. The first time they told us no paper. That was awkward as the maid goes through the garbage for recycling. The second time it appeared to be backup from another room. The maid didn’t bother coming the day between left. So no water as she gives you three bottles a day. The hotel is in need of some touch ups.

Just returned from 5 days at Viva Heavens. Overall, we had a great time and the resort was wonderful!! It is small but does not feel crowded. The food was good - especially breakfast, the buffet at the beach and the a la cart menus were excellent. Rooms were clean and simple. Staff were amazing, so friendly and accommodating. Loved the path between the resort and the beach, a little piece of nature and very peaceful. Just a couple of things that could have been better - it was difficult to make a la cart reservations, especially for the night we arrived. Also, all restaurants are not open every night so we were only able to try 2 of them. My biggest criticism is the sales pitch for the Viva membership. We felt very pressured to sit through this talk and had to end it assertively, as I felt that my time was being monopolized and all I really wanted was to be on the beach. I would still return to Viva Heavens in the future, despite this.

Best staff, including front desk. Thanks to Benedicta we got the best of our vacation. Very good resort and amenities. A pleasant walk to the beach on a paved, shadowed walkway. Beach bar and coffee shops deserve a full 5 stars. The water has some algae, but it has nothing to do with the resort. Walk a bit to the left and it is better. Relaxing atmosphere. We prefer the quiet beach. Some entrainment by the pool, but we prefer the beach. The pool might look small, but it was never overcrowded when we passed by. Long , overlapping hours for food. We arrived at 9.45 pm, and had a pleasant dinner. We will return

We arrived Feb. 1st for a 2wk vacation. We had an issue with our room (noise from bus parking area). It was brought to the attention of GM Barbara & Asst. Benedicta who moved us immediately to another room in another bldg. Their quick actions were greatly appreciated. The staff at this resort were excellent, friendly and engaging. The food was great! The entertainment staff were so much fun and always trying to get you to join in on the fun. We wanted to take a couple of tours and met Hector the Protector on the beach. He is very personable. We went on the City Tour with Fabio and it was very good. We also went out on the Catamaran and had a fun afternoon. We had booked to go fishing but it was too rough and there was no issue to get our $$ back. He aims to please and delivers. It was a great vacation and we definitely would go back.

Our recent stay was Great!
Staff were friendly and most spoke little English which was comforting. The beach was 5 min walk on clean shaded path.
We were all vegetarian so we had variety of food and dishes every meal. The waiting staff are friendly and hospitable. There was evening entertainment and day events the guests were engaged and entertained by teams. One week stay was perfect and I would visit again.

PS: A request to Restaurant Manager, please add labels for 100% cooked veggie food, it would really help!!
Thanks.

We are a couple that booked 1 week at the resort through Air Transat. This was a return visit from 2 years ago. There were some helpful new additions and a couple of disappointments. Main likes: great beachfront location with miles of walkable beach, friendly activity/other staff, good food and dining options, spacious/comfortable rooms and bed and evening activities were fun and energetic. Excellent value overall. The dining reservation system has improved with the use of a ‘Viva’ app. We strongly recommend the specialty restaurants over the buffet options. The café is a new addition which is great for the best coffee drinks, pastries and snacks. Main dislikes: repetitious breakfast buffet menu, occasionally insanely noisy specialty restaurants if a large group is present, surf is too rough for ‘leisurely’ swimming in the ocean but still swimmable for adults (no snorkeling), and pesky vendors at the beach can be a nuisance but ‘no, gracias’ will work. Drinks are served in small glasses but 'bubba' mugs worked too. The resort is low-rise buildings and smaller than most - which we liked. The pool is a bit small but we mostly stayed at the beach. Housekeeping was wonderful but always dialed the AC to the “Arctic setting”, presumably to keep the mold away. Waitstaff service at the pool and beach is spotty. Bring Kleenex and a facecloth(s). Tipping is appreciated. Mosquitoes can be irritating in the evening. Gym could use an equipment refresh but still usable. Mall nearby has ATMs, some shops, a sports bar plus medical clinic. A local market area is farther down the beach. Recommended excursions include the day trip to Cayo Arena and the ’Tip Top’ catamaran trip. Overall, recommended.

I was pleasantly surprised by this resort. Small-ish resort with 1 buffet restaurant, 1 snack bar, and 4 a la carte restaurants. The hotel is clean, food is good (7.5-8/10), rooms are spacious, staff is friendly. I was there for 2 weeks - during the first week there were lots of seaweed at the beach but the 2nd week was beautiful with no seaweed. If there’s seaweed, you can walk further down the beach and you’ll find spots without seaweed.
