Reviews
This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The room was extremely dirty – there were layers of hair in the sink, the bathtub and toilet were filthy, and everything was covered in dust. The floor was so dirty that my feet turned black from walking barefoot.
To make matters worse, when I closed the bathroom door, it locked itself. I had to call the reception, and it took them 30 minutes to come and unlock it with a key.
My bed was literally split in two – completely uncomfortable and unacceptable. And despite the hotel knowing someone was staying in the room, a man suddenly entered without knocking, using a key card, and brought someone else with him. He didn’t apologize or say anything – he just looked at me as if I was the problem. I felt extremely unsafe and uncomfortable after that.
This hotel is not just dirty, it’s absolutely neglected and unsafe. I would never recommend it to anyone. Avoid at all costs.
The hotel's central location is a significant advantage, being situated near the Aswan train station and within proximity to various dining options, including fast-food restaurants. We praise the friendly and welcoming staff.
Amenities at Marhaba Aswan Hotel include a rooftop terrace that offers panoramic views of the city and the Nile, enhancing the overall guest experience. The hotel also features a coffee shop/café, providing convenient dining options for guests.
While the building is older, we have found the accommodations satisfactory, especially considering the price point.
Overall, Marhaba Aswan Hotel is a suitable choice for travelers seeking affordable accommodation with essential amenities and a central location in Aswan.
This is hands down one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. While the view of the Nile from our room was nice, that’s about the only positive thing I can say. Everything else about this place was an absolute disaster.
Noise and Poor Location
The hotel is located right in the middle of a noisy local neighborhood, and the windows do nothing to block out the constant sounds of the street. I was kept awake until the early hours of the morning every single night. Don’t expect peace or quiet here—it simply doesn’t exist.
Uncomfortable and Dirty Rooms
The rooms are mediocre at best, but the beds are horrible. The mattress was lumpy, uncomfortable, and felt like it hadn’t been replaced in years. To make matters worse, the beds creak loudly every time you move, adding to the already unbearable noise in this place. The bathrooms weren’t much better—they were dirty and clearly not cleaned properly between guests.
The Worst Breakfast Ever
The breakfast was an absolute joke and, frankly, a health hazard. The cook clearly doesn’t know how to prepare food, let alone something as basic as eggs. Every morning, my omelette was served raw. Even after complaining, nothing was done about it. On one occasion, I ordered an extra egg and still had to pay for it, despite showing them that it was also raw. They provide just one egg omelette per guest, and the rest of the plate consists of prepackaged yoghurt and jam (probably costing 10 EGP at most), stale cheese, and cucumbers that looked like they’d been sitting out all night.
To top it all off, I ended up with food poisoning from this disgraceful breakfast. It’s no surprise, considering their lack of basic food safety. The so-called “buffet” is just for show—most of the dishes are empty, and the little food that is there is questionable at best.
Misleading Amenities
The pool? Don’t be fooled by the photos online. It’s a tiny, dirty kiddie pool—barely a meter deep and only about 6 square meters in size. It’s laughable that they even call this a pool.
Deceptive Staff
The staff might seem friendly, but it’s all fake. Their smiles are just a ploy to get tips. There’s no genuine hospitality here, just a poorly concealed money grab.
Horrible Value for Money
At $100 USD per night, this place is an absolute rip-off. The experience was so awful that even $30 USD per night would feel like too much. In fact, I wouldn’t stay here again if they paid me!
Final Thoughts
Do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel entirely. It’s filthy, noisy, uncomfortable, and a complete scam compared to the photos online. There are far better places to stay for the same price—or less. This hotel is a total embarrassment and should not be in business.
However its location is excellent if you want to look around Aswan or sail on the Nile.
The guy on the reception was a bit creepy and always had is hand out for a tip….. think he wanted a tip for breathing as he did nothing to deserve a cash payment 🤷♂️
And the room is normal quality
- insects have been detected
- taking a shower is not an easy task, so many problems in the toilets relevant to plumbing fittings.
- foods was bad quality
- staff people were friendly
- hotel location is very good and closed to the train station in the downtown
- the hotel has a fabulous Nile view
