Heritage Hostel in Cairo

I booked twice in a row, once for 4 days and another for 3, with consecutive dates. Something I've never experienced traveling solo before: this hostel tells you to switch rooms after two days. First, I had to move from an upstairs room to a downstairs one because my original room was designated as a male shared room. Then, after another two days, they told me again I had to move because this new room was also becoming a male shared room. I really didn't want to switch again; it felt insecure. So, I decided to switch hotels, and of course, since I had booked several days at once, I couldn't get a refund for the remaining two nights. The guy at the front desk completely changed his demeanor and became aggressive, saying, 'I've done my job. It's your fault for not booking consecutively, which is why you weren't put in a female room. There are so many Chinese people here, and we have to make them switch rooms every day; it's not my fault. If you want to switch hotels, then switch.' Isn't that ridiculous? I always booked female rooms. The first time I booked for 4 days, they made me switch on the 3rd day, even though those were consecutive dates. What he said was just an excuse. They want to maximize occupancy, so they constantly move people and beds around based on the number of men and women checking in that day, making guests bear the inconvenience and time cost of switching rooms. Staying in a shared room is already a hassle, with 20 people sharing only 2 bathrooms across 3 rooms. And now, having to deal with the psychological unease of changing rooms and beds. So, I'd rather lose two nights than stay at this hostel any longer. BTW, the front desk staff are male and enter female rooms without knocking. They also constantly ask if you're checking out today, which is something they should clearly know by checking the system. But the staff here obviously don't do their part, making guests endure the disturbance of being questioned while still in their beds in the morning. Chinese people are usually easy-going and just switch when asked; experience it for yourselves.
