Reviews
The only minor letdown was the pools, which were unfortunately far too cold to comfortably swim in. It would be great if at least one pool were heated to a more comfortable temperature. The rooms were clean and spacious but felt a little dated in places and could benefit from a refurb. Some of the plugs didn’t work, and a few modern updates would really help bring the rooms in line with the otherwise high standard of the hotel.
Aside from that, the exceptional service and dining were real highlights and helped distinguish this hotel from many others.
Furthermore, the Overall check in process was awful, we received no real welcome. Also, as a leading hotels of the world member zero acknowledgement apart from cheap awful prosecco… everything is terrible at this hotel literally zero service you feel like you are in a hostel… trust me you are in for a “treat” as this hotel is infected and needs urgent pest control - it is full of cockroaches - they are everywhere in the hotel lobby and rooms (!) and the stuff just do not care and are non committed to their job and therefore no nice or kind service is being provided. They made me cry on multiple occasions! Awful!
This was the worst experience ever just don’t go here unless you want to be ripped off and treated like a “ number” or a “wallet” certainly not like a guest! I did not sleep at all as could not fall asleep after cockroaches and restaurant disaster by the time me and my daughter went to bed in another room the sunrise was on. Also, Showers have only either cold or hot water. So, if you want a holiday and not a disaster Stay away from this hotel there is zero service or customer acknowledgement or appreciation they only care about money. I paid for my room at 19:00 and I did not get a room I could sleep in until 5am! (Whilst arriving at the hotel around 18:30) the room we were given before our dinner had cockroaches 🪳 that were running all over hotel lobby and our room , we had to be moved and did not get a functioning room until 5am. I even had to sleep in the lobby at some point during the night on a couch until they sorted out a room for us. Absolutely appalling! The management was extremely unapologetic, complete lack of respect or basic human compassion on the side of management. They did not want to provide any monetary compensation until we had cockroaches yet again the next night in a different room we moved to and only after I emailed bunch of people including senior management they finally agreed to a partial refund for one night out of two… both nights we had lack of sleep with room moves and cockroaches removals and room checks. Honestly save your money and go elsewhere. Ah on top of that all pools are super cold so me and my daughter never got to swim… they say they are 26-27 degrees Celsius but in reality 19-20 Celsius at most.
Rooms are nice, location is good but one can feel that the place is under managed. You can find things that don't work, haven't been repaired, haven't been cleaned everywhere in the hotel.
Here are just a few examples:
- moldy bread at the buffet and all we got as an excuse from a manager was: i'll tell the staff, sorry
- November 4th, the moldy rotten pumpkins from Halloween are still around and full of flies
- the sink tap at one of the restaurant fell in my hands
- the toilet at the breakfast are dirty
- housekeeping showed up at 9:30pm for turndown service, twice over 3 days whilst they know there is a baby in the room
I'm not having a bad stay but I will definitely not come back here nor would I recommend anyone to come to this place
Hotel grounds are neglected: loungers dirty and uncomfortable, mats soiled, trash left under sunbeds for days, smoking area tables stacked with dirty cups. Gym requires a keycard to enter but has no proper AC. Calling a buggy takes 15+ minutes, even with staff standing around.
Restaurants are below standard: food is oily and inconsistent, pastries unlabeled, stale bread charged at lunch, rotten oranges left in the juice machine, dirty dishes at breakfast, coffee takes forever. Quality is nowhere near 5-star and service is inattentive.
Staff were the biggest disappointment. Reception was rude when I asked if they could collect a delivery, replying “we have enough restaurants here.” Taxis through the hotel cost 100+ vs 60 with Uber. Complaints about glass shards ignored, birthday not acknowledged, drinks spilled by pool never cleaned, and our bed left stuck high after housekeeping with no help despite multiple calls. Checkout was cold and dismissive - no “how was your stay,” just an invoice.
Overall, this hotel pretends to be luxury but fails on every level. Feels like a neglected 3-star at best.
The location couldn’t be better, right on the beach with expansive grounds that are beautifully maintained. The variety of dining options is impressive, from multiple high-end restaurants to a Michelin-starred experience, all of which lived up to expectations.
Our room was serviced daily to a very high standard, and the nightly turndown service with chocolates, slippers, and thoughtful touches made coming back from the evening shows feel extra special.
There’s no shortage of activities on offer, and the gym is well-equipped with the latest Technogym equipment. The breakfast buffet was outstanding — fresh, varied, and of consistently high quality.
Overall, Bahía del Duque delivers everything you’d expect from a world-class resort and more. Highly recommended for anyone looking for luxury, comfort, and exceptional hospitality in Tenerife.
The slight let down was the air con wasn’t working in the bedroom - these things happen but the response was a bit poor. We had to ring twice for it to be noted, then a technician came & looked at it and said it’s fine (it wasn’t!). After an hour of conversation with the main reception we got a fan and an offer to move villas the next day. Again, not bad but the move was to be fully done by ourselves - at this point, everything was unpacked and would have lost hours moving.
Other issues were minor, such as the kids club being relocated to a small room vs the great space on the website and having to ring multiple times to get a cleaning service.
Overall, hotel was great, would 100% recommend the villas vs standard accommodation but don’t expect Sani/Ikos levels of service.
The room we had was very nice, the bed was comfortable.
In the room there was a coffee station with a nespresso machine, a safe, a minibar etc.
I informed the receptionist that the day after we checked in was my partner birthday so we got a very nice surprise in the room .
The breakfast was super, with a great selection of food and drinks.
They have few swimming pools and restaurant to choose from.
Most of the staff was friendly and polite.
This is a great resort, however, if there was a better attention to the detail it would be even greater.
The box with coffee and sugar was messy, not tidy up or cleaned from the previous guest.
The day when we checked out we were very annoyed by the housekeeping: they come in the room while we were having breakfast (nothing wrong with that) they started to clear up the room, after the breakfast we went at the pool area and when we came back we noticed that they went in the room again... while in the room they try to come in again. it was not yet time to check out but the housekeeping tried hard to make us to go away, it was our check out day so they should just left us in peace since we did not overstay.

Staff were amazing, I wish I could remember more names to complement, but everyone was really friendly and helpful. The rooms are slightly dated compared to more modern design-led hotels, but they're comfortable, spotlessly clean, and still very nice. We were in a junior suite so all four of us could fit in one room and it was great - spacious, comfy, and a lovely balcony which was really handy with the kids.
Pools were awesome, and the public beach below the hotel was really nice and the access from the hotel really convenient and easy. Good sand for building sandcastles, nice entry to the sea for paddling with little ones when the waves weren't too rough, pleasant level of busy - felt lively without being overcrowded.
We would definitely come back for a similar holiday of relaxed pool and beach with little ones, but the hotel also looked very nice for a more adult break, with great pools and bars with lovely views.
We had two concerns before the holiday based on reading other reviews, which both turned out to be total nonsense.
(1) that even the heated pools might be cold, but that turned out to be nonsense. The heated pools were perfect temperature, and even the unheated pools were pleasant. The pools were lovely and a big selling point of the hotel in my view.
(2) restaurants. Some reviews said the food was overpriced and inconsistent. I'd say the overall standard was very good, and maybe you can get better value for money outside the hotel but it wasn't silly prices in the hotel - certainly very reasonable compared to the UK still. We had great meals at the Brasserie, Beach Club (twice!) and Alisio's. We then had a second meal at Alisio's which was mediocre. Would say the Trattoria was totally fine - strong pizzas but relatively bland other dishes. Sua (basque food) was absolutely delicious, but our service was a bit shoddy. Overall I was very satisfied by the quality of food (including the more informal lunch meals at pool restaurants), and while we had disappointing service at 2 dinners, I think to have slightly disappointing service at 2 out of 20 or so meals we ate in the hotel is pretty good going. And to be clear the poor service was a result of staff being run off their feet rather than not being good/pleasant staff.
