Reviews
First of all, I want to highlight the staff, especially those working at reception. They were extremely polite, welcoming, and always ready to help us with anything we needed. Their kindness truly made a positive impression on us from the beginning.
However, when it comes to the rooms, we were disappointed. Both rooms had windows that couldn’t be opened, and there was very poor ventilation. One of the rooms didn’t receive any natural light, as its window looked directly into an interior hotel corridor. Although I appreciated that the hotel upgraded our triple room to a type of suite with a city view, overall the rooms did not feel comfortable, fresh, or well-ventilated.
Regarding cleanliness, it did not meet the level of a 4-star superior hotel. There was noticeable dust in many areas, and one day something unexpected happened: in the double room, it looked as if a cleaner accidentally spilled a drink (something like Coca-Cola) near the bathroom door. The liquid had splashed onto the wall and even onto my jacket that was hanging nearby. This was disappointing and not something I expected at this price point.
As for the breakfast, it was below expectations. The breakfast area felt very small and crowded, the food selection was limited, and if you arrived around 10:00, many items were already missing or not refilled. For the price we paid, I expected a much better and more varied breakfast experience.
I understand that part of the cost is for the excellent location—being right in Plaça Catalunya is definitely convenient—but overall, for the price, the rooms and breakfast did not justify the cost.
In short:
Staff: Excellent
Location: Excellent
Room comfort: Below expectations
Cleanliness: Needs improvement
Breakfast: Limited options, overcrowded, not worth the price
I hope the hotel can take this feedback constructively, because with such a great staff and perfect location, improving the rooms and cleanliness could make the experience truly worthy of a 4★ superior rating.
Unfortunately, once I settled in, a few issues became impossible to ignore. The first thing I noticed was a set of towels that were damp, had unpleasant stains, and smelled terrible. When I went to take a shower, I found multiple long hairs inside, clearly not mine.
There were also ongoing Wi-Fi problems. When I mentioned my room number, the receptionist immediately acknowledged it, saying they were already aware of the issue.
On my last morning, someone opened my door around 8 a.m.—likely a cleaner—even though the “Do Not Disturb” sign was hanging on the handle. That was uncomfortable and completely avoidable.
Used coffee cups were swapped out, but the replacements were very dirty. I didn’t try the food, so I can’t comment on that. Overall, the staff were generally fine, but at over 200+ euros a night, the smaller details really do matter. Even the charging unit in the room wasn’t working.
Location-wise, the hotel is perfect, especially if you’ll be spending most of your time out and about. But if you plan to spend a lot of time in the room, these issues can become frustrating. Also worth noting: the spa they advertise isn’t on-site—it’s an eight-minute walk around the corner.
A place with great potential, but the basics need much more attention.
My wife and I travel a lot, and we found the Olivia to be of exceptional standard. The staff were always attentive, and nothing was an issue for them. Most hotel lobbies are cold and unwelcoming, but this was the exact opposite. They even made us a coffee while we were checking in.
Also, a great location. Only a five minuet walk to Ramblas street.
Would absolutely stay here again.
The hotel's location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Plaça Catalunya, with everything you need just steps away. It was so convenient to shop, drop off bags at the hotel, take a quick nap, and head back out for more exploring or dining. Whether you're up for shopping, sightseeing, or just strolling around, everything is within easy reach.
Check-in was fast and smooth, made even more enjoyable with a welcome glass of champagne and the genuine hospitality of the staff. Check-out was just as seamless, and I truly appreciated how the team made me feel like they were happy to have me there, and genuinely sad to see me go.
It’s clear the staff takes pride in creating a great guest experience—they made my stay feel special from start to finish. I'm already looking forward to coming back!
I want to give a special thank you to Mohammed, who went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. His professionalism, warm demeanor, and willingness to assist with any request made me feel genuinely cared for. Mohammed is a true asset to the hotel, and his exceptional service made a lasting impression.
