ALEGRIA Fenals Mar Mini-hotel

This is the worst hotel I have ever been in my whole life. We arrived at the hotel early morning at 2 a.m. after a turbulent flight. We received a room that was not even close to the ones in photos. It had a weird smell, something like bleach and sewage. The bathroom was really outdated, with bathtub visibly painted over. The walls are like they are not even there. Anytime someone opened the water faucet or flushed the toilet it would bang so hard and you would hear water like it was in your room. Not to mention the loudness of guests at this particular hour, because it’s mostly visited by teenagers or early 20 years olds who have no sense of respect for other guests. We complained, received another room which was visibly better with updated bathroom, but the noise persisted. To make matters worse, I am pregnant and did not get my well needed rest. The only place where I could close my eyes for a little bit was the beach. Also, one time at the dinner, while the line for food was really long and I was waiting for a long time, and almost my turn to get food, the staff member made me leave the line by waiving from the other end of the restaurant, thinking it was something urgent. Only for him to tell me there is other food here -.-‘. I’m not blind. I could see other food, but wanted the freshly grilled seafood they were serving and he made me leave the line for nothing. Not to mention he only spoke spanish so couldn’t even explain to me what he wanted to say. Poor service. Avoid at every cost. Not even worth it for beach proximity.

The hotel has some redeeming features. The location is fantastic, just a short walk to the beach and close to plenty of shops. They also stored our luggage after check-out, which was genuinely helpful and appreciated. The pool itself is nice, and the surrounding area has potential to be relaxing, although it was often overrun with guests playing ball games despite signs asking otherwise. Unfortunately, most other aspects of the stay were disappointing. The bed was extremely hard and left me with a bad back each morning. While the room was clean, it had a musty smell and the noise insulation was poor. I could hear every conversation, shower, and toilet flush from neighbouring rooms, which made it hard to relax or sleep properly. The food was the weakest part of the experience. Dinner was particularly poor, with oily pastas, bony fish, and cold potatoes. Items frequently ran out and were not replaced. It was difficult to get drinks, and the ice cream disappeared quickly without being restocked. Breakfast was more acceptable but still quite basic. The overall atmosphere felt more geared toward young partygoers. Many of the guests appeared to be part of hen or stag parties, likely drawn in by the low price. If you’re looking for a calm or comfortable holiday, this may not be the best option. I would not return, though I will give credit for the convenient location, luggage storage service, and the potential of the pool area.
