Had a lovely few days. Staff,were very friendly,and accommodating. Continental breakfast was good value. Great location too. I would say,it was a boutique hotel old meets new. Would recommend.

We loved our stay at Hotel California. It was easy to find, using public transport, which is excellent ( no 3 bus from outside Malaga Central train station- train direct from the airport) and easy to access the old Quarter using the same bus- 10 minute ride. All fares are the same price, so no faffing! The hotel is family run, spotless, friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was excellent, not a buffet, but served to us each morning, meat and cheese, cake, bread, croissant, fruit, muesli, yoghurt and a choose of either scrambled or fried or an omelette, freshly cooked. The bed was firm, but comfortable and the pillows were memory foam. Fresh cotton sheets. We’d have preferred a walk in shower, but tbf, didn’t request one (hence the 4/5 for room)It’s a 2 minute walk to the beach and about a 20minute walk to the marina along the promenade. In short, a welcoming hotel, in a great position.

The decor in the hotel lobby and shared areas is quirky, old fashioned and nostalgic. There is a nice area up on the roof, we didn't use it but it's a place to relax and provides shade from the sun.

There is a stunning small back garden but it isn't accessible to the public.

Lovely little hotel in a quieter part of Malaga. The Sea front is only a very short walk away.
The staff are very attentive and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel was very cleaned and very close to the beach, the city centre, instead, was 15 min away (walking). Nearby there was a supermarket, very useful for last minutes munchies!
The staff was super friendly, especially with our little girl!
On the 4th floor there was a balcony with beach chairs. In the evening from there it was possible to enjoy some fresh air and the sunset.
The best part was the breakfast! Abundant and varied, with both savoury and sweet options.
One thing to note: to reach the hotel there is a steep flight of stairs. Something to consider of you're travelling with a pushchair!

Very nice hotel. Close to the beach without being directly on it. Well decorated and pleasant staff!

Hotel California in Malaga deserves more credit than its 2-star rating would suggest. The service is great—even better than our fancy hotel in Barcelona. The breakfast spread is photo-worthy. We were even offered a “picnic” breakfast on the last day of our stay when our flight was scheduled to leave early in the morning. And finally, so many amenities! For example, we were provided with a parasol for our day going to the Malagueta beach and we enjoyed the quiet rooftop patio.

The hotel staff are really welcoming and friendly, we had a wonderful stay. The hotel and rooms are super clean. And it's a 10 minute walk to the city center.
