Nice hotel, good location to explore San Sebastián. The staff at reception were excellent and really friendly, credit to them.
The hotel has really nice spa facilities and a decent equipped gym. It’s a reasonable price also. I would definiltey stay here again.

Bad recepción..
Sorry for my language , But it’s true !
I made a reservation two days ago , I was gonna go with my girlfriend and propose , it was a crazy plan I had, I called the reception a day to , I was attended to by a female staff , which I pleaded to help me get the hotel room decorated with flowers, she confirmed my reservation and told me she was going to send me the price tag via email , note :she never asked for my email , which I presumed she had already . After a day of not getting any reply , I called again , and this time a male staff picked , I spoke to him and told him I needed the room decorated, I told him I called earlier, and he told me , he was going to get some balloons to the room , which I appreciated . On getting to the hotel , I did the check in , I was sent to a room already occupied , came back down to the reception to let him know the room was occupied, I was sent to a different room , on getting there, the room was not decorated 😭, and smells bad , really pissed me off , and spilt my plans , I called after my reservation ended to explain my discomfort only to show no accountability be the female staff .. very shitty attitude. Not going back ever .

Hotel is clean and simple. A bit further than I expected from the old town 20-25 min non stop walk, not much in immediate surroundings, some cafes about 7-10 min walk . Garage was conveniently located . Pool is nice but not heated, so unless it’s summer and hot it’s too cold to swim in September . Sauna area was decent , Turkish bath room was broken and hot tub barely warm . Staff was pleasant and helpful, breakfast was ok .

The hotel looks pretty new and clean. Rooms are good size and nice layout. Check-in took a while with 3 guests before me. The location is not great.

The facilities are very nice and most staff are extremely helpful. Rooms are well kept. Some are on the smaller size with limited room for the suitcase heavy traveller but we managed with one suitcase, carry-on and two nap sacks The breakfast was great and worth adding to your stay. The rooftop is very nice but the pool is not for swimming and is unheated. If you are looking for a pool to get your laps in then you will be unhappy. But if you just need to chill and soak, it is perfect and often there is a self-serve sparkling wine bottle on deck. The gym and sauna facilities are nice. They also have spa services.You have long (15-20) min walks to old town or Gros but minutes from a nice river walk and the bridges. Parking is limited so call try to book early and call the night before. If parking is full, there is a parking lot around the corner that you can book with the Telpark app and the staff can help you with that. The parking lot is a two minute walk but a 10 to 15 min drive in traffic. I really enjoyed this hotel.

Rachelle from the front desk is absolutely amazing. Her service was so friendly and immensely helpful. She gave so many local recommendations and helped us out when we needed. This is the best front desk service we have ever received at a hotel. We blew a fuse in the hotel at midnight using the wrong adapter and she was very helpful getting our power working in minutes.

Super friendly staff, the hotel is modern and well located. 15min walk from the main parts of San Sébastien, beach and tapas district ! Small but really nice rooftop pool to relax. Also the Spa experience was really good. If you’re lucky to get a parking spot at the hotel it’s even better since it will be nice and stored in the private garage.

Fabulous hotel. The staff couldn't be friendlier and the rooms are great. We took advantage of the spa facilities, too, which have definitely been a highlight.
I'm even rating this hotel highly for location, since, thanks to that, we have discovered Plaza Easo with its super eateries.

Axel was an ok base for a weekend in San Sebastián.
The location was good - walkable to the key parts of the city, and importantly it had parking for us as well.
The room had quite an impractical layout - nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom and no towel racks. And there was an unpleasant smell in our bathroom coming from the plumbing at random intervals. Furthermore, our safe stopped working and despite reporting this to reception, it was not fixed.
The walls are quite thin, so you can hear people using the bathroom next door. Our room also faced onto a courtyard with apartments directly opposite, so the curtains needed to be fully closed for any privacy.
The rooftop pool is a good place to relax.
For the price, we thought the hotel did not represent great value for money compared to other places we’ve stayed, but perhaps this is just the San Sebastián premium.
