Reviews
Disappointing Marriott Bonvoy status recognition which was non-existent. Service is impersonal. Rooms are small and dated. Furnishings are worn. Bed is comfortable and clean. Bathroom layout is strange with a separate water closet. Front of house staff are mediocre. A soulless, cookie cutter property that could be so much more. Used to be my "go to" property in Paris but now quite disappointing.
I stayed here more than once, about a week at a time. Once booked directly with the hotel and the following time with a third party online booking app.
I got a better room when I booked directly.
Close to metro and other public transport.
1. It's an extremely noisy hotel. The windows have almost no insulation. The sound of trams passing in front of the hotel is a nightmare. Changing rooms doesn't help. (We had to change rooms 4 times). Even if you move to a room overlooking the back garden, it's impossible to sleep due to the screams and shouting coming from the garden until midnight. When you mention the noise problem, they suggest giving you earplugs?
2. Poor service: We requested an extra bed for a child. They came and set it up, but forgot the pillow and duvet. They came back, and this time they forgot the duvet cover. When they returned again, they just handed the cover at the door and asked us to put it on ourselves. At breakfast, you have to find your own knife, fork, and napkin and find a table for yourself.
3. The hotel corridors smell bad, and you don't feel like you are in a clean area. Especially, the breakfast room is very dirty.
4. Due to having to quickly repack our belongings during the room changes, I forgot my shoes. Normally, the forgotten item should have been brought to our new room. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Our shoes somehow got stolen. All we heard from the hotel management was the word "Sorry."
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER.
We were part of a wedding event. The groom booked a bunch of rooms, we followed the link and paid. I paid for two people for 3 nights and was given an invoice with a price. After checking out and getting my final bill I was charged more for 2 of the nights. When I inquired they said it was because I had 2 people and the reservation was for 1. I showed them the original invoice with 2 people listed and the price given. Nope, they said. I won't go on and on with the back and forth, but perhaps offer pay upfront or be vary wary of a bait and switch.
The good: The bed! It is a very comfy bed! It is a near public transportation, the staff is friendly and welcoming.
The mediocre: Breakfast was okay, but there are a lot of good options nearby. Food and drinks in the bar were okay to decent, but the bar staff was very nice and fun.
The Bad: aside from invoicing/billing issues
Half of the power outlets did not work, the open shower bathroom needs a drain in the main part of the bathroom or the shower needs a full door( I have travelled and in open baths like this there is usually a drain). The fan in the bathroom did not work. The iron is attached to the ironing board with very little cord (I guess people steal irons) and one cannot go the full length of the board when ironing(you can still attach the iron to the board and leave plenty of room for one to iron properly). The furniture was a bit dinged up. Wires and cords are a haphazard mess clearly visible while reclining in bed and maybe that is fine for most, but for me-it drove me crazy to see the messiness in a hotel that touts its glamour. While I appreciate the green approach to heat saving, it was cold when we were there and were limited in how much we could increase the heat so we were a little chilly at night. Perhaps there is a different way to manage this and be good to the environment-maybe just an extra blanket in the closet?
If you aren't comfortable trying our your French and you need an American friendly Hotel, this will work for you. If you don't mind potentially being charged more than your original quote, this will work for you. If you are fine taking a gamble on working outlets, this will work for you.
The staff though is really very nice and I am sure most will be fine here. I am mostly annoyed at the billing issue and their lack of attention to details. Details are what can elevate a hotel, restaurant or experience and they fall very short on this.
There is a Hyatt across the street that may do some things better.
This hotel has definitely lost its way. My room had plumbing issues for several days. I had to ask repeatedly for maintenance to fix the problem. The plumber finally came at 3am when the problem had become severe.
The room was not cleaned for two days in a row. I had to ask the front desk several times to get a replacement of shampoo and toilet paper. I went down myself after asking for the replacement and a person did come to the room at 7pm to give a replacement bottle
The breakfast was still quite good. I appreciate the selection and foods available for the breakfast service.
I think this property has lost a lot of its luster. I wanted to have a better experience. I am grateful for the early check in. However, I don't think this property is worth the value anymore.
