Reviews
The food was delicious, both at the rich breakfast buffet and the high-quality dinner, with a wide variety and fresh ingredients. We also tried the hotel’s snack bar, where we were impressed by the fresh salads and tasty dishes – perfect for a light lunch.
On our first evening, we enjoyed a fantastic bottle of wine with dinner, which we continued to sip on the hotel’s beautiful veranda, taking in the peaceful view and an unforgettable sunset. In the following days, we became regulars at the bar – the cocktails were simply outstanding, with the Mai Tai being one of the best I’ve ever had!
Prices across the board were more than fair, making the overall experience even more enjoyable. This is a place that offers true hospitality, comfort, and pleasure – we’ll definitely be coming back!
The food varied depending on the day, but overall I’d rate it an 8/10. The pool area was lovely and a great place to relax, though the pool itself could have been a bit cleaner.
To our surprise, upon arrival there were snack plates and fresh drinking water in the room. This was a nice touch, as we had last eaten at the airport around 1:30 PM.
The hotel grounds are full of plants and blooming flowers, and it’s about 50 meters from the pool to the sea. The rooms are spacious and clean, the beds very comfortable, and the bathrooms modern. We especially liked that a lot of attention had been paid to the design of the public spaces. You could see in the decor (hand-woven rugs on the walls, old tools, icons) that their Greek roots, culture, and continuity are important to them.
The food at the restaurant was very fresh and tasty, and the dinner menu was diverse.
It’s worth especially mentioning the hotel staff – they are very friendly, helpful, and professional.
We also took a few trips to the city of Rethymno, located 6 km away (we bought bus tickets for 2 euros from the supermarket next to the hotel entrance). In the evenings, we also enjoyed walks to the center of Adelianos Kampos.
Thank you for a beautiful vacation, Kathrin Beach!
The rooms come with AC and a balcony, but the walls are rather thin and you can hear everyone in the hallway. Also the AC is poorly positioned as it blew cold air directly on my head while sleeping and thus I caught a cold on the first night. The shower is messy as it splashes water everywhere. Also, no shampoo or body wash was provided, and only clean towels every 3 days. Also, the WIFI is rather slow in the room, it's a lot faster in the dining hall and at the beach, though.
The food buffet for breakfast and dinner is ok, although nothing special and often a bit bland.
The hotel is right at the beach and it has a small pool as well. There is also a small convenience store nearby.
What's really annoying are the guests (mostly Germans) that are unable to read signs: They put down their towels on the deck chairs at the pool early in the morning to "reserve" their spot and then leave again for hours without even using the pool or the deck chairs. This is not allowed as written on the pool-side sign. Also many guests do not shower before getting into the pool, which is really digusting.
In my opinion, the hotel staff should enforce the rules.
There is a nice beach right by the hotel, you can listen to the sound of the waves all night if you wish. The hotel pool is big enough and equipped with about 20 sunbeds and parasols, but there is no chance you could use them, because irresponsible guests "reserve" those overnight by leaving their towels on sunbeds. The hotel has its own sunbeds and parasols on the beach, a set costs 7€. Everything is close to a hotel (bus stop to Rethymno, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants...).
The receptionists were so kind and helpful from the first moment we arrived, the other members of hotel staff were also kind.
We really loved our stay.
Great service, really helpful, friendly staff
Clean hotel
Clean beach 1min away from the hotel
2x Sunbeds and umbrella 5€ after 16:00 3€
Many shops and restaurants around the hotel
Bus stop to Rethimno city right a front of hotel(1way ticket 1.2€)-10min by bus
Good prices in hotels restaurants and big portions
A very quiet area where you can relax
No live entertainment in hotel, for us was only a great bonus
Really accommodating when we wanted to switch rooms-no extra charge
Staff could speak English
Negatives
Seriosly dated hotel. The majority of rooms are dated and the ones you see on the internet are maybe only a few of them.
Very slow internet. You need to log in almost every day and even logs you out several times during a day
Food-school canteen style. Every morning the same food. For dinner no seafood, they served fish only twice and that was some frozen pieces that were prepared the same way. I am sorry but being in a country here is sea you believe you receive sea food/fish on daily bases. For fruits they served only watermelon-every single day. Honestly, we end up eating in restaurants, the food was not too expensive and if we knew this we would not pay for half board even not for breakfast. Disappointed by the food 👎👎
Next to the hotel is a little shop where you can buy bus tickets, food, etc.
I love Katrin Beach. I know the family, hotel, for decade for sure.
Rooms are big enough, almost all of them mostly renew.
Food is delicious and there is enough to choose from for everyone.
Sunbeds by the pool are for free, at the beach you pay 5€ per day. There is also a beach service so Frappe directly to you :)
Beach is Kind struggle. Would say that shoes for water are a good idea and for some people probably a must. Water is clean, beach is amazing and big.
Next to hotel you find bus stop to Rethymno, ticket you can by at the store right by hotel, you find many rental car places, shops, bars, restaurants, everyhing you need for a nice vacation.
If you do have a any questions, hit me up. :)
Thank you Maria and Nico for lovely stays. See you soon.
The food was quite good. 8/10. The breakfast was always the same. There was different dinner. Soft and other drinks are extra charge during the dinner.
The beach doesn't belong to the hotel so you need to pay extra 5 eur per day if you want to get an umbrella and sunbed set. Or you can lay next to the hotel on your own.
The whole staff is realy helpful and pleasant, cheerfull and funny.
There was also a bus which can take you to the center of Rethymno. Fantastic city with very beautiful architecture.
