Friendly reception. Clean rooms. Rather small balcony. The bus stop is in front of the hotel, easy to get to the city centre (bus 1 and 20) and back (bus 6). Supermarket over the street. Short walk to the public beach. The best advantage were early breakfast hours (7-10). The pool was also nice, not many people there and suprisingly I couldn't hear the traffic from the street that much.

If your flight gets cancelled and you're reading this review, the hotel isn't all that bad. The staff were nice and so was the food. Be sure to take a trip to the supermarket opposite as they had some amazing cheap food. Check the fruit aisle! Mot much else around worth exploring.

We came to this hotel for 4 nights due to our easy jet flight being cancelled. Our first room was extremely basic and not the nicest but did the job for an emergency room. We stayed at Vanisko Hotel for 3 nights. Everything about our experience was wonderful. The buffet breakfast was magnificent - fruit, vegetables, cheese, pastries, coffee, juice all the best quality. Everyone including the bar tenders, chefs, receptionists, and manger were wonderful to us. Should be 10 stars not five. Definitely the place to stay when in Heraklion.

Our flight was cancelled due to technical issues in UK traffic control. At 2 am the hotel quickly roomed 180 guests. Not knowing when flights would be the hotel allowed us to remain in our rooms until 00.30 the next morning. Check out should have been 12 noon. They were very friendly efficient and helpful. A wonderful week at Castro hotel. The rooms are clean, the staff is kind and helpful whenever is needed. Food is fresh and delicious. Everyone is smiling and it is the perfect location for families. It’s easy to get to the hotel from the airport, just tell the taxi drivers the hotel name and they’ll know. Ride was 30€. We originally booked to stay at another hotel in the area and were redirected here last minute - so we were a little worried as we didn’t pick it ourselves! However the rooms are very modern and newly renovated. We found the double bed comfy too, which was a relief! Nice place for short or medium stays. Clean and tidy. Friendly staff and good location on the main strip, just 200m easy acces to beach. Breakfast basic but plenty and good quality food. Room shower is a average. Good pool but no bar really. Best to hire a car to get around as its so central you must travel out an about.

What can I say. Mr Christos is an amazing manager and he'll take care of your every need. The location is amazing and the beach is a paradise. The location is great and very safe. I traveled solo in the low season and they were very accommodating. Highly recommend this hotel!!

This is a very nice option in Amoudara Beach, it’s extremely good location wise, you can spend your days beach front straight from your room or explore the island and return at the end of the day. Christos is great, he was friendly and genuinely, making sure you’re having a nice stay when he sees you. Also, pet friendly!

Familiar place. Very lovely and calm place. In relation price vesus quality we recommended this hotel. It is simple hotel but is quiet, have a pool and is near the beach (350m). Our room have a fridge and it is posible to have hot water to make a tea or coffee.

The owners are giving their hearts to this business. They have the cutest dog also, who is very polite and silent. I feel like we have read so many bad comments which were undeserved for this place. You get correct value for the amount you pay, and they are not treating you less politely just because it is a 2 star place.

We had a beautiful room with a small kitchen and a big balcony. A small hob was supplied for cooking. The receptionists were always very friendly and took care of all our requests. The beach is just a minute away.

The balcony was far too narrow, and there was only one folding chair that fit across the room, so it was impossible to chill on the balcony in the evening for two. The shower was very small and the water spilled out. Otherwise, everything was great. The staff was really friendly. Everything was close: a supermarket, a restaurant, and a café, and it was only about 3 minutes to the beach.

We had a day room before our late flight departure. The hotel definitely needs reservations. The rooms are basic, but clean and spacious. We really liked the pool, probably the best pool for doing laps in the area. There is plenty of parking. Also not far from the beach and few of restaurants in the vicinity. A real value for money.
