Despina Apartments in Platanias

This was worst hotel experience ever. The rooms were ok but the smell in the bathroom is terrible and the bugs there, the sheets had stains. The pool area is really small and the sunbeds are usually already reserved with towels, so you kind of have to go to the beach. Kitchenette doesn’t have sharp knifes that you could cut vegetables etc. No dishwashing liquid, sponge or dishcloth. The hotel advertises that the kitchenette is fully equipped, it’s not. The rooms aren’t soundproof and all the noises is clearly heard.

When we arrived our room wasn’t ready yet so we went to the restaurant to eat while we were waiting for our room. The service was very very slow and we had to ask for the bill twice and it came after half an hour. Let’s mention that the restaurant wasn’t even half full. When we got the room we went to change our swimwear and headed to the beach which is connected to the hotel. The man who works there said that the sunbeds are free.

The next day we went to the beach again and when we were leaving this waiter said that we have to buy food/drinks or pay 7.5 euros for the sunbeds, and that’s fine. Well, then again the next day we were at the beach and ordered drinks and when we were leaving this waiter started asking why we don't eat and that don't we like eating here. He just went on and on about eating even though the hotel advertises that you can eat in the restaurant or cook your own food. After all, it is an apartment hotel.

This waiter's behavior was outrageous and threatening. First he says that you should buy drinks/food or pay 7.50 euros for the sunbeds, and there was really no mention of these anywhere. We assumed that the hotel's beach is free for residents. The very next day it didn't suit him that we were ordering drinks but that we should have eaten there. Absolutely incomprehensible cheating of customers!

We have traveled a lot and nowhere have we received such bad customer service. There was no mention of these rules of theirs and we were not informed about these when we arrived. So I personally cannot recommend this hotel unless you want to get a ill feeling and unequal treatment.
