Hotel Ideon

We've had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Ideon for our holiday. Our first room had a very unpleasant smell, luckily we could transfer to another room as soon as possible. However, we had a room in the side building, rooms were pretty outdated here.

The service of the staff was very pleasant, very friendly staff, especially at the front desk. Bar staff could be faster, drinks could take a while to arrive, but staff was nonetheless very friendly.

Beautiful location, with a great view out to the sea. Lots of restaurants, cafes and shops nearby as it's located in the old town of Rethimnon.

Will definitely visit again sometime. Thank you all for the great holiday!

I stayed here for a couple of nights to explore the city before heading to a resort. The interior is beautifully designed with chic boho vibes, giving it the feel of a magazine-worthy 5-star hotel. It’s also extremely family-friendly – they provided a crib for our baby, and allowed us to check out an hour later at no extra charge to accommodate our child’s nap. Excellent service all around!

Ideon Hotel is wonderfully located near the old town, making it easy to access all the sights and restaurants nearby. We stayed in a double room with twin beds, which was clean and equipped with air conditioning and a modern pad to control the lights. However, while the room had a water cooker and cups, there were no extras like tea, coffee, or bathroom essentials such as cotton swabs. The view was nice—our room overlooked the pool, and the front of the hotel offers a lovely ocean view.

The staff was friendly and polite, and they helped us book a rental car at a good price. One drawback was the parking situation, as the hotel doesn’t have dedicated parking, so we had to park randomly along the road, which was a bit frustrating. We had breakfast and dinner included in our stay, but with so many dining options nearby, I’d recommend exploring the local restaurants. The buffet was fine, but pretty standard for a hotel.

The biggest downside was the pool. While it was generally well-maintained, there was a noticeable issue with cleanliness around the edges that seemed to persist throughout our stay. Additionally, we found it inconvenient that each time we ordered something, we had to pay immediately, as there was no option to charge it to the room or settle it later. Overall, it’s a nice hotel with good service and a great location, but there are a few things that could be improved.

Location was right in old town and close to restaurants and 15 min walk to the beach. Be aware rooms facing the sea are noisy as the local bars are open late into morning (4am).

Pool fantastic and service terrific. Bar/pool menu reasonably priced. They strictly adhere to the no reserving loungers. Opens at 10 after breakfast is finishing and imagine allows people in rooms facing pool a sleep in!!! A negative was no pool towels provided.

Breakfast was amazing and service by staff first rate. They provided gluten free bread on request.

Room was renovated but note some rooms are in buildings attached to the hotel and there is no lift access but staff are available to help with luggage. The shower was a nuisance as leaked water everywhere. Twin single beds together really small. But views from room fantastic.

Would think hotel more 4 star than 3 and great value for money. Would recommend despite view things mentioned.

I was excited to book this hotel but.....as i write this I'm in the hotel room .... It's about four o'clock in the morning and I can not use the balcony cause the lights are insanely strong...i can not open the door not even for some fresh air.....at eleven o'clock i had asked if somehow they can dim the lights down so that i can sit and enjoy my time before i sleep...but no ....you can not enjoy the balcony at all in the evening... I paid 100 € so that I can not go at all at the balcony in the evening to enjoy my drink....bad thing i paid already for one more day.. i also asked for an iron....it was the tiniest with no steam at all... I was ironing one blouse for 20 minutes.... (The stuff is polite....)

Really great experience staying here for the last 10 days, the staff were all wonderful from reception to bar to breakfast. Our room was spacious and had a very efficient air conditioner which was vital in the hot weather. The included breakfast is a good selection but it would be nice to see a wider range of options or a rotating variety. Very pleased with our stay and hope to stay again in the future!

Lovely place, close to beach and gorgeous restaurants nearby.

A centrally located hotel near the Old Town and harbour. Staff friendly and multi lingual. Rooms and service adequate for a hotel of that size and rating. Would recommend to stay. Only parking can be an issue if a car is used.
