Hotel «Simplon»

It’s a big old grand hotel which has been well maintained. It is huge and links up to the neighbouring Hotel Dino via a 400m underground walkway. This is where you need to go if you want to use the gym, which is also huge and very well equipped, probably the largest hotel gym I’ve seen. Unfortunately you need to pay €12 a day to access it which is annoying when it says the hotel has a gym. Also, as is sadly becoming more common, breakfast is extra at a pricey €25 pp. Also parking is extra at €20 per day! (It should state this on the property details page when booking) So when you book a night as a couple at €200 thinking it’s a good deal for hotel, parking and gym it is actually going to cost you €282, so knocked off one star for all these extra costs. However it is a lovely hotel and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

Wonderful hotel near the lake with very helpful staff and beautiful surroundings.

The pool is magnificent. We had the must stunning view over the lake with a terrace.

Good location for boat to islands. Lovely pool. Spacious room. Could do with tea and coffee facilities but that might be an English thing! Helpful and friendly staff.

At first, we had a smaller room, really a bit too small to walk in it, and a strange smell, from the AC but the management was quick to offer us an alternative room! This was was more roomy, had a balcony, great view towards the lake and we were very happy! The hotel is beautiful, classy, amazing staff, very accommodating, they are paying attention to details and the cleanliness! I can highly recommend this hotel also for families, since the pool and outdoor space is beautiful. The sister hotel property The Dino Grand Hotel is next door and connected to this hotel. You can walk all the way inside and also use their pool and lake access which was perfect! Breakfast is ok, typical selection in Italy, with sufficient options. You can walk to the town center easily in 5 minutes and enjoy all the shopping and restaurants by foot. Baveno is nice and you can take the ferry to many other cities around the lake. Also Stresa is only 10 min by car and it is one of the most beautiful spots on Lago Maggiore. We will be back for sure!

Great place to stay a few days
Very nice hotel walking distance from Barbour and all restaurants. Nice bar, nice pool, nice pool bar, nice rooms … Everything was very good!

For that reason I wouldn’t stay again (we didn’t pay for breakfast and just got yoghurt form the supermarket opposite).

Very grand property and has access to sister hotel Dino, to allow use of swimming pools, kids games area, gym, both bars & live music.

Add ons were a bit expensive but nonetheless we had a great stay.

Sparse on power outlets in our room was the only drawback

I like this hotel, the staff is super friendly. Nice outside pool, with a pool bar next to it. The price is very okay, will certainly come back.
