Residenza D'Epoca La Basilica Mini-hotel

Avoid this place like the plague. We booked a 3 night stay here and upon arrival there were immediate red flags. We alerted the front desk that we would be checking in after 5pm and would need a code to access the building to which they said they would send a message on Expedia with the code... take a guess if they did. We were stuck outside of the building calling the number on file multiple times until someone from the building finally answered and gave us the code. This is where things got even worse... the place looks like it could have been a film location for the Haunted Mansion. Flickering lights, filthy floors and walls, outdated furniture, and not a soul in sight. Our room was absolutely disgusting. Bed sheets were filthy (yes, there's bed bugs), floors were dirty, walls had marks all over them, and the list goes on.... We immediately left and had to find last minute arrangements for our time in Florence. When I went back the next day to return the keys the person at the front desk wasn't even surprised when I told him why. I left my email with him so the manager could contact me but take a guess if they ever did.... We've left messages via email and Expedia but have not received any response. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money to stay somewhere better.

I booked a stay at this hotel and requested to cancel within just 5 minutes of making the reservation. Despite the minimal timeframe, the hotel refused to issue a refund, which is both unprofessional and unethical.

Additionally, this hotel has serious issues with safety and cleanliness. Numerous reviews highlight concerns about bedbugs and other dishonest practices. Please do your research and proceed with caution.

The reception at this accommodation is very friendly and the location is great! The only scary thing was that we found bed bugs on the sofa bed! ! ! ! So we didn't sleep on that bed. When I informed the accommodation, he only said that he had checked and found no insects. Because pests do exist, I hope this review will encourage the hotel to implement pest control measures to prevent future guests from being harmed.

***UPDATE - I've chased them for 2 months for a refund. Despite them promising me it would be refunded at the time, they've ignored all contact since we left Florence.***

We were awoken during our first night at the Residenza d'Epoca by Bed Bugs swarming over the linen. Having already been bitten several times we put the bedding in the bathroom and sealed the door, needless to say we got very little sleep thereafter.

No one answered the 'emergency' phone number the following morning and we had to wait until 10am until anyone became available at reception. He claimed this was the first time it'd happened but I've since seen other similar reviews which is very disappointing.

We moved to another hotel nearby which we were told was an upgrade but in all honestly was exactly the same standard - (but thankfully no infestation!).

Asked if we could get a refund for the night with the bugs but have been ignored.

Avoid at all costs.

The booking was a scam, the pictures were beautiful but the reality was totally different. The room was full of dust, it had an underground room separated with a fence but it had a dirty mattress it looked like a horror movie. We wanted to cancel the booking because of the conditions of the room and they accepted it, confirming first the refund however the next day they changed their mind and denied the refund. Bad customer service, horrible experience.
