The good- the location is nice and price is very reasonable. The breakfast included is good. The air conditioner works very well. There is a small cooler in the room with bottles of water (but it doesn’t get cold enough to store much else). The bathroom has a bidet.
The not so good- there is a discrepancy with room descriptions between Adoga and the hotel. Neither the hotel nor Adoga took responsibility for the listing is I received no compensation or solution when the room had only one bed, instead of two. I chose this listing over others due to the stated room layout.
The rooms appear hastily cleaned- the linens and floors etc were fine but the bathroom had copious amounts of hair strewn about. When I immediately brought this to the attention of the staff member upon check in, showed pictures, she didn’t offer a solution or seem particularly concerned. I said we were about to head out again to explore, assuming the bathroom would be cleaned of the hair in our absence. When I came back later that night, it was still there. I cleaned it myself.
They offer a breakfast order form. When it’s presented in the morning, I wasn’t sure what I wanted for breakfast the following morning. I took it to my room to fill out later. When I returned that evening to complete it, the form had been removed from the room. I was presented with the same form, that I had filled out persons and room number only and left in the room to complete, at breakfast the following morning. If it had been left in the room, I would have finished it in a timely manner. If I had completed it sooner, I would’ve given it to the desk. Makes it hard to comply with the breakfast request they solicit.
The city tax of €6/pp/night is fine. I pay in cash upon check in. The change I am presented with is €10 short. Only when I request it am I given the correct change. I don’t even use euros in my country surely I am less familiar with the denominations than someone working in a hotel that used euros as primary currency?
There are also various small maintenance issues with the room- the bathroom door only latches closed when I pulled with my entire body weight, the switch plate popped off the wall every time I’d flip the light switch, the drains don’t nest properly in the sink and bidet and are always left resting in the drain, askew- so the drain in the sink and bidet could never be closed.
It was the cumulative issues like these that make me wish in hindsight I stayed elsewhere. No specific one thing made. Maybe if you don’t have a streak of slightly off putting experiences like this, Hotel La Scala is good. But for me, it was below average. I hate to be a whiner. Most of my reviews, by en large, are 5 stars. I’m easy going- but this wasn’t it- sorry.

My fiancé and I had a great visit here. The receptionist Mackey (I apologize if I’m misspelling the name) was very accommodating and courteous. She arranged for us to skip the long lineup for a nearby popular restaurant, and the hotel held onto our luggage and jackets for us after we checked out 😋 🙏🏾

We stayed for five nights and the hotel felt like a second home. The staff were accommodating and worked quickly. The team at breakfast worked well together and there was always someone able to answer questions at reception. The staff went above and beyond to make out stay comfortable. Thanks for everything, The Fell family.

The room was clean and quiet, the bed was very comfortable.
Our room (Nr. 5) was oriented to the interior yard and this was perfect because it was so quiet and cozy. Room cleaning was performed everyday by the staff, towels were changed. Breakfast was fresh and you could choose from a variety of products, from omelettes up to cereals or gluten free products. Good coffee to start your day.
We loved the fact that the hotel was situated so close to the city center and all the main attractions, and in the same time close to the train station.

The room was beautiful and the service was excellent with a delicious breakfast served every morning. The hotel is very clean and the location is perfect to get easily to and from transportation, restaurants and highlights of the city. Bijan is wonderful, he was very helpful and so very pleasant. I totally enjoyed my stay there and will recommend this hotel to everyone who I know that’s traveling to Florence. Great experience!!!

Modern hotel right in the center of a beautiful and centuries old City. The hotel is small, maybe 10 rooms, and you get to meet both owners. Yes, the rooms and the hotel was clean, and it's just a couple of blocks from all the touristic attractions, but what sets this hotel apart from the rest has to be the incredible attentiveness and kindness of the staff. We were treated so well. The owners are so warm. The breakfast, which was delicious, includes meats, eggs, and pastries, which was actually prepared by them (after tasting the complexity of flavors I was in awe that they were not produced by a professional pasticceria). We were lucky, one of those days, to try some pasta dishes, also homemade, that were better than many of the restaurants in town. Europe usually lacks in customer service, but the customer service we received here was even better than that you'd expect at the best US hotels. Any small or large request we had was always answered in abundance and with a smile. Before checking out, they gave me a whole bag of home made biscotti!

It's expensive for the service you get. Too much beautiful pictures for the quality of the rooms.

Very nice hotel in a great location, walking distance to the main attractions in the city. Rooms are big, comfortable, awesome breakfast. Staff are very friendly.
