Location, location, location. This is right in the heart of ancient Florence. You can't beat the stunning view (the B&B is aptly named).
Everything (grocery store, pharmacy, other shops, restaurants, conference center) is within an easy (and beautiful) walk. The sounds of Florence are intoxicating. But it is also good that the room has good shutters and windows that can keep out the noise and light when not wanted.
Our room was spare and not very comfortable. No drawers or closets to put your clothes. The bed had a pretty saggy, lumpy mattress. This is a very old historic building that has been remodeled inside, but not with much care or charm in the rooms. The building itself is charming with its shutters, narrow staircase, and ancient elevator for 2 people (or 1 person and luggage).
Breakfast is just a typical Italian light continental breakfast. 1 pastry, 2 small pieces of Melba toast, a cup of tea/coffee, and a glass of juice and some butter and jam....all brought to the room at a time (only between 8:00 and 8:45 am) of your choice. There is no attendant or service after 12:00pm.

The location is spectacular! The view from room magnificent! But the room was not adequately cleaned when I checked in there was crumbs and chocolate from previous guest. The towels are dingy. I wasn’t confident about the cleanliness. While we were out a receipt was left on our desk. Not comfortable with that.

Spent my first night in Italy here. It got the job done but was nothing special. Tiny lift elevator which I thought was really cool although it’s not the most practical. The bathroom was separate from the room but we didn’t see any other people. The towels we were provided with were very thin so hot soaked immediately. The location was amazing and the place was clean and secure. Those were the main things for me. We got a breakfast which was nice but it was very minimal so definitely didn’t hold us off for long. She made us pay the tourist tax in cash. Don’t have super high expectations.

One of the worst “hotels” I’ve ever stayed in. There are 3 very long sets of stairs to go up to the rooms. They claim they have an elevator but only 1 person and maybe 1 piece of small luggage fits in it. We came with a family of 4 and luggage for all of us. We had to drag it all up about 40+ stairs. Then the rooms are worse than dorm rooms. There are literally holes in the walls, the rooms smell like smoke and they are not very clean. You are only paying for the view IF you requested a room with a view - otherwise you get to look down on a roof. I feel like I’m in a hostel or a motel 6. Would not recommend. Only plus is the location but there are plenty of other options for hotels - spend a bit more and go somewhere else.

I was staying for 3 nights and since the beginning it was a very good experience; the personel was so nice and polite, very charming, the room i was staying was clean and tidy, and with an excellent location.

The best midshipmen all is very nice, the breakfast a bit poor, the room I am girl because I was with two backpacks and a suitcase. Worst of all is that they say that there is a view of the duomo and in reality there is a giant poster that covers absolutely everything, if you want closeness is perfect but I would not recommend it

Nice location, but...... Non-resident smoker on front steps who wouldn't move every time we entered and exited. No entry lobby or reception. 15-20 steps up to first landing (don't bring a lot of luggage). More steps to tiny, but charming elevator. 3rd floor hall door sticks. Our 2 twin bed room was minuscule. Beds sag and we could feel springs. No place to open suitcase or hang clothes . View completely blocked by scaffolding and billboard type screen. Don't be large (over 5'4 and 120#) - you won't fit in the shared shower. Piazza location means street conversations, music, party noise until 4 am and street cleaners and delivery trucks starting before 6 am. Overpriced.

My sister and I stayed here in August in 2016 for 3 nights and felt very relaxed in this hotel. There was scaffolding outside our window but we did not end up worrying about that. We were exhausted from lots of traveling, walking and flights, so Duomo View helped us relax. The air-con was good, sounds from the Piazza were minimal and wifi was excellent. Facilities were brilliant in our room, and breakfast was nice. Amazing location, it was easy to visit the shops downstairs to buy pizza and gelato, and a chemist was nearby so my sister who was getting sick was able to get what she needed. The majority of her illness disappeared while staying at Duomo View, since it was so relaxing, even though she got the illness as we arrived in Florence!
Downside was the homeless people on the doorstep, not moving for us, but helping us talk to the staff on the intercom. Steps into B+B were a lot, but a small elevator helped us out. Only saw concierge once, but we were out most of the time. I enjoyed the B+B more than I recall the bad parts of the weekend we were there.

The square is crowded but the building is beautiful. Built in traditional red, white and green marble, the massive structure is truly breathtaking. Be prepared to dodge a multitude of tourists as you journey through the square and through many side streets filled with shops of all variety.
