Our room was a spacious time capsule, frozen in the era of floral print bedspreads and faded golden trim. The furniture looked like it had been salvaged from a thrift store, and the bed creaked with every move, as if protesting the indignity of hosting yet another weary traveler.
The bathroom, oh the bathroom! A tiny, cramped space with a showerhead that seemed to be an afterthought, installed at a jaunty angle, as if to say, 'Good luck getting wet, sucker!'
But, alas, the staff! Ah, the staff! Like a ray of sunshine in this otherwise dingy establishment, they tried their best to make us feel welcome, with warm smiles and helpful tips on where to find the nearest decent coffee.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a taste of faded glory and a healthy dose of irony, the Best Western Crystal Palace Hotel is your place! Just don't say I didn't warn you.
