Spinola Hotel in St Julians

We stayed at this hotel from July 4–7 and unfortunately experienced several issues that made our stay uncomfortable. On the first day, we got stuck in the elevator before even seeing our room. We pressed all the help buttons, but no one responded—we eventually had to get ourselves out. We reported it to the manager, who promptly called maintenance. Once we got to our room, the power went out within the first few hours, and we realized the fridge wasn’t working. The staff replaced the fridge and moved us to what they considered an upgraded room, but it was actually smaller with a smaller bathroom—though it did have a balcony. Unfortunately, the fridge still didn’t function properly. It only stayed cold when someone was physically in the room, regardless of whether it was replaced or not. This was extremely frustrating, as I had not only food and drinks that needed to stay cold but also medications.

Another issue was the air conditioning, which also turned off whenever we left the room. While this may be part of an eco-friendly setup, it wasn’t practical. After being out in the sun all day, we would come back to a hot, stuffy room and had to wait a long time for it to cool down. On the third day, the power went out again—this time maintenance responded quickly, but it was yet another inconvenience.
