Chivapuri Beach Resort in Chang Island

Nice Hotel, great location, but since 2017 it's getting worse. What's particularly annoying is the new
hotel bar, which has been there for some time now. You can't hear the music, but instead there's booming bass that reverberates through your body and heartbeat.

The hotel is on the verge of bankruptcy, with almost no service. Upon arrival, I couldn't find the front desk. After a long search, I checked in, but was taken to my room and left without a word. My TV wasn't working, and it couldn't be fixed because I couldn't find anyone. When I encountered the hotel staff, they were indifferent and didn't understand English. Breakfast was very limited, and I lost my appetite after two days. There were also a lot of mosquitoes.

We paid approx. 300 USD for staying at this place for a romantic getaway and we were hugely disappointed. After check-in we found out that the remote for the the air conditioning wasn't working. Staff came back to the room countless times over the next hours to fix the issue without being able to do so. Eventually, they managed to turn the aircon on but they took away the remote claiming they would return it straight away. After another couple of hours, the room was freezing and we had no way to turn the aircon on. This is when we found out that there was not even hot water in the shower or tub. We walked once again to the reception (no telephone in the room, despite the hefty room rate) to ask for assistance and literally waited hours for someone to come in and fix it. At that point, we were forced to cancel our reservation for dinner at a restaurant to wait for the staff to fix everything. It was already late when they finally managed to fix the problem and have the working remote for the aircon back. In consideration of all the inconveniences suffered, I contacted the hotel manager by e-mail asking for compensation. The only answer I got was "Happy holidays, we will fix things for you". On the following day, when we went back to our room after spending the day on the island we found another surprise: again, we didn't have hot water in the room! We walked for the millionth time to the reception and again they sent staff to fix it. In the meantime, also the TV stopped working. I wrote to the manager asking officially for a refund complaining about the extreme poor service we had had at their hotel but they refused any kind of compensation. Please be aware that once they have your money, there will be 0 chance to have it back in case something doesn't turn out as expected. Do yourself a favour and book a hostel instead, you will get a better experience than the one you will get at this scammy place.
