Reviews
We had great fun with the water park every day (if this is something you enjoy then definitely this is the resort for you).
Every evening consists of happy hour for drinks and live music/entertainment in the outdoor dining space.
Wide choice of food at breakfast catering for many nationalities.
Sitting on a gorgeous stretch of sandy beach which is walkable all tones it day with no restaurants directly on the sand which was nice.
To explore the island or beyond the resort road, a car or taxi is required.
However, two points could be improved:
At 7:30 all sunbeds on the beach or the pool are already reserved (as you can see in the photos). Often no one lies on it all day. This is something you normally experience only in Europe.
It would be nice if this “German culture” were banned here.
And at breakfast it would be great if there were one or two more vegetarian dishes to choose from, as 90% of the warm dishes contain chicken or pork.
Otherwise a great resort to come back to!
Thanks! 🙏🏼
We stayed with our extended family at the Paradise Resort.
- Great location. The beach is clean and stunning and ideal for families as the children can play on the wide beach and the water is very shallow. It’s also great due to the palm trees and shadow opportunities. Not to great are people reserving seats already at 8am but every hotel has to deal with this and some manage it well and actively and some don’t. The hotel is also very close to many shops and restaurants so you don’t need to hire a scooter or car if you don’t want to.
- the newly renovated deluxe bungalows are very spacious and we enjoyed a very big bed and sofa in the room.
- service is not 4 star. Don’t expect a functioning service when visiting this hotel as you will be disappointed. Of course there are many layers of service. Check in was the worst I had in years. I didn’t mind that we could check in later than advertised but as a guest when I arrive at the hotel after 6 hours in the car and see the stunning location I want the energy to be positive or at least matched with my own holiday mood and positive. But we were treated with - how stressful today was, what is not allowed to do (big big list) and the overall vibe was “I want to give them all a hug to make them feel better about their life.” Understand hotel business is stressful and there are days that are terrible for sure but don’t let guest know. Guest spend a lot of time and money and check in is the first touchpoint the hotel has.
Even worse however is the restaurant / bar service. Again you feel sorry for the people because they look SO sad all the time. Don't mind that they were completely unattentative, slow and not interested in making eye contact to see if guest would like to order. But please again your guest want to feel great during their holiday especially in the morning (again first touchpoint). My child was touched and rudely!! asked to hand over her glass which she just got from the buffet because she is not allowed to grab her own drink as too small. Understand they are afraid of a glass to fall down but hey I’m sure you would charge it so don’t bother and don’t touch my child please. With 4 years my child can hold a glass. If you wait for any service during breakfast you wait for a long time - tables are only cleaned once you leave the restaurant even if the restaurant is close to empty and the service staff is not doing anything other than looking very troubled.
In general the hotel has a lot of “rules”. If you loose a key card you have to pay 300 THB (one of the first things they tell you at check in). We visit 20-30 hotels a year and that was a first. I understand to charge but to make profit with this model? One rule is also that kids below 4 have to wear a diaper in kids room?! This is extremely rude and disrespectful.
Also something that was not working is the beach towel system. We never got new towels with cleaning we always had to call reception to get new ones. It’s something I don’t want to bother with daily and I feel like it should not be my job.
The food quality of the breakfast was not 4 star (lunch not better). 4 times I tried the hot/warm food and it was cold (potatoes, beans, noodles, rice). After mentioning it to staff (on 4 consecutive days) they always turned on the heat but were not thankful about the information but super annoyed and also they did not learn as it happened again and again and again. The waffles / pancakes are not fresh but with an instant mix and unfortunately you can taste it (why though it’s not difficult to make from scratch). The 10 minutes eggs are in reality 2 minutes (tested twice) and after mentioning this, staff threw in the eggs again in hot water without a timer - which explained a lot.
But it’s okay I can eat toast - just don’t expect a lot as a guest. The buffet “looks” great and expectations can therefore be high upfront.
So overall excellent location, great rooms but recommend to just go outside for everything else - the island is absolutely great and people as well.
After a very smooth and easy check-in including a nice welcome drink, the staff brought us and our stuff to our amazing Pool Villa.
As we arrived after sunset, we couldn’t see its full beauty but we‘re already impressed. The following days we enjoyed our own pool, went to the main pool and had some drinks there - try a Royal Spa, a Mango Tango or one of the very good Cocktails. The waterpark on the opposite of the street is pretty nice but maybe a bit bumpy. Even though we enjoyed the slides 😄
The service is really good, all of the staff members are very helpful and friendly!
Our room was always very clean and we had everything we needed!
The included breakfast has a marvellous variety of food and a good mix between a western breakfast and typical Thai Breakfast.
Also the food at the hotel was very good for example the Pad See Ew.
In the evening a stunning fire show takes place on the beach. Very impressive and absolutely nice to watch. The guys are fire!
Another highlight for us were also the massages at the beach. The price is the same as in most other massage studios on Koh Chang but the atmosphere here is pretty amazing. We had several Thai and back&shoulder massages and were very happy with it the service.
From our point of view there was only one little minus: our Pool Villa was next to the street and that was from time time noisy.
The villa was stunning with its bright design, spacious layout, and an impressive view of the sea from the huge bed. The weather was just perfect, and the beach wasn't too crowded, which was a plus. We even enjoyed the kayak service for a reasonable price of just 100 Thai Baht per hour.
The SPA experience was impeccable, just as we're used to in Thailand, and the oil massage for 550 Thai Baht was pure bliss. The breakfast spread had a noticeable upgrade from our last visit, and the refurbished restaurants were a treat to dine in. Plus, the new addition of a small coffee shop in the lobby area was a great touch.
The room service was prompt and efficient, ensuring a clean and comfortable stay throughout. We're definitely looking forward to coming back again soon!
We were a bit worried about the October weather, but it turned out to be mostly great, with just a short 15-minute rain spell, which wasn't a big deal for us. The service was top-notch, and the cleanliness was impeccable.
The breakfast spot was a real winner, especially after its recent renovation. The new coffee machines are so cool! The variety of food available was mind-boggling.
The location of the resort couldn't have been better. The beach area was pristine, with crystal-clear and calm waters. No rocks or corals to be found, just pure sandy bliss. And the cherry on top? The 8 P.M. live music and fire show on the beach—such a magical way to end the day.
We truly had a blast! Thanks a million, Great Alex, for making it all happen.
