Hotel Ickale

Rooms were small but cosy. All amenities were provided very beautiful hotel . But we had some issues. INTERNET was not working in our room. We had so much problem as I had to book tour for next day. AC vent was behind the sofa and curtain. So the rest of the room was hot. I couldn't sleep. Rooms are not soundproof, so I could hear the cars passing by. The hotel is on the main road. We were 4 people but only 2 single blankets were there. Had issues in the night. One of my kids was without blanket . Breakfast was ok. They start early at 7 till 10. Staff was supportive.

I have been invited to a conference by Ankara University and this hotel was the choice of the organisers. I stayed there for four nights from 25 to 28 June. My room number was 321 which had a double bed, small balcony facing another building and an en suite bathroom. My biggest surprise was that this is actually rated and advertised as a 5-star hotel which least to say is a huge overrating of the hotel and what it offers. Rooms are small, in desperate need of updating / refurbishing and probably being better cleaned. The staff at the reception would never greet you or acknowledge you on the way in and out especially the two young female receptionists that serve during the day. The main restaurant on the 1st floor where breakfast is served is in need of updating and what is on offer for breakfast lacks the elegance and touch that one would expect at a 5 star hotel. Perhaps the only positive is the location of the hotel relative to where I wanted to be for work. Also the helpful staff at the concierge.

All together, this is hardly a 3-star hotel that is priced as 5-star !

I have stayed in other 5-start hotels in Turkey where I had a much more positive experience, unfortunately Hotel Ickale was a disappointment, it is overrated, overpriced and should be correctly rated as 3-star.
