Historical Goreme House

I had booked the property via Agoda for 3 Nights. There were 2 bookings - first one for 1 night and second one for next 2 nights. Upon arrival, I was told that the property doesn't work with Agoda and hence they haven't received money for the second booking of 2 nights, which was strange given that they had received for the first booking and the listing still shows up on Agoda. We were told to contact agoda, cancel the booking and pay the property in cash. We agreed to going through this hassle during a vacation and even withdrew cash with ATM markup of 8-10%, losing extra money while our previously paid money was pending reversal.
Now comes the worst part - trusting the hotel, we had asked the hotel front desk to book activities for us in advance. We were told the cost of Hot air balloon would be 220 Euros. We even booked the red tour and green tour through them at 70 Euro each. We paid this price in cash upon arrival, only to later discover that the going rate was 100 Euros for Hot Air balloon and 40-50 Euros for the tours. We enquired at multiple places and this was the price everywhere. We expected the hotel to help the guests by at least informing us that outside prices could be cheaper. We underwent an arduous struggle to try and get back the refund for the extra amount. We were given assurances that the management would help us in this regard but we never got back our money. They said they would give us a free night on our next trip, which is not acceptable as we most likely wont go back to the same place again in the near future.
We understand that the hotel does not provide the activities but we expected the hotel to be transparent with its guests and try to get the best deals for their customers but here we paid more that double and we FELT CHEATED.

I am writing a review for this hotel the second time. The first time I wrote, they harassed me on whatsapp for the review, then said they will resolve the problem if I delete my comments but once i did, they didn’t even try to solve my problem.

Please don’t stay in this hotel if you care about your money.
We had a very bad experience in this hotel. We had booked all the services from the hotel itself. They charged more than double for all the services. For example- everywhere in capadocia, hot air balloon charges 100 euros, they charged us 220 euros.
They behaved very badly when we asked for a refund.
They kept saying they cant refund as they book using a travel partner. We checked with many travel offices there no one charges that high.
Also, when we tried to check in, they said they dont work with the partner anymore and made us cancel the booking. They were charging extra post cancellation and we had to negotiate really hard to reduce the amount. Overall, pathetic experience, most importantly, we feel WE WERE CHEATED.

Additional info based on the hotel’s response:
1. The response itself speaks volumes about the hospitality of the hotel.
2. I want to make it clear we had NOT booked with any travel company. The hotel booked for us. They wont even give us the details of the travel company to contact. Hotel never even suggested that prices can be lower outside, booking through hotel will be costly but assured. That way we would have made an informed decision.
3. They did not give us any free accommodation. They told when you come next time, we will provide free accommodation. As a tourist/traveler, why would I visit the same place again in near future. If you are that nice, refund the hotel amount that you took from us. You are pretending to be helpful but you are not helping really.
4. You did lie to us saying we will refund if you delete your comments.
5. We never asked for full refund, we are aware we took the service. We are asking for the exorbitant extra money you took from us.

Iam a travel agent and I booked honeymooners what is called a twin room at historical goreme house. The photos on the website were fabulous but when the guests reached the rooms were like a rat hole . They had no space to move or even place their luggage. I asked the hotel to give them a complimentary upgrade for only 1 night but they said they would charge Eur 50 per night extra. Please do not go to this hotel . They will give you a lousy room and then ask for money for the upgrade. Really disgraceful !
