A wonderful hotel, we didn’t live in the hotel itself, but in apartments, and used all the infrastructure: breakfast, sun loungers, showers, swimming pool. Special thanks for the breakfast, the best breakfast of our 20 days in Tanzania!!!

Very authentic place, antique furniture, musical instruments, chests, paintings and photos of the history of Stone Town and Zanzibar. Most of the rooms have a sea view, there are two swimming pools (one infinity) and a private beach. The room has a Moroccan-style bathroom

It's very cool to listen to the ocean. Excellent cuisine and wonderful staff. Super hotel, surprised compared to other hotels in the city - a solid 4.

It was a really lovely place and the staff were very helpful and friendly but there was no lift and we were on the top floor... And also the food in the restaurant for lunch and dinner was average at best.. the only other slight issue was that there was no alcohol served at this hotel. It wasn't really a big deal as there is a bar right next door but being able to have a glass of wine with dinner would have made it better..

The staff and location are great. The room has a nice but historic decor. However, the building is very old and smells musty. Had to buy incense for the room to smell better.

The Tembo hotel is very nice .. but we stayed in the house Hotel ...the hotel is like an apartment ... which is far from the hotel .
But it's A 4 star , the breakfast was amazing, the waiters went above and beyond. I would definitely recommend the hotel, not the house, which is like apartments, and the rooms are a bit smaller and the facility isn't that great. But they will take your luggage all the way from the hotel to the apartment. I really enjoyed my stay here the location was perfect and close to everything

Great location
Lovey view of the beach
Allowed late checkout (but the checkout time is a little early at 10am!)
Large selection at breakfast
Beautiful infinity pool and a lot of different seating areas
Cleaning staff were nice

Cons
Staff were slow. I had issues (safe not working, bulb broken) and reported it 3x and it was not fixed.
Room small and dark and right by the pool but luckily it was low season so it wasn’t too noisy
Check in was quick but a bit all over the place
Bathroom could have been cleaner

I probably would not stay again

Very good location for exploring Stone Town. Family room in the main building was a good size for a family of four. The pool was a nice way to cool down in the afternoon. But the breakfast was absolutely horrible, especially at that price, and I don't understand why they had to do some repairs immediately above our room at midnight. I had to call reception and ask them to stop. Check-in was also a bit chaotic and not well organised. The hotel has some charm but you really feel they're reluctant to go the extra mile to make it really pleasant.

The hotel is in a good location and has a direct access to the beach. The rooms were big and the staffs are good too and polite. The breakfast was delicious. We really enjoyed our holidays.

Fantastic sunset dinner. Great atmosphere, on a deck. Spacious. Prices: Medium to high.
