The Churchill Hotel Near Embassy Row

I stayed at The Churchill Hotel during a conference from Wednesday to Sunday, spending close to $1,000 for the weekend. A colleague of mine joined me for two nights, and I requested a room upgrade to accommodate us both (and was willing to pay extra if needed). Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked and couldn’t provide an upgrade, but they kindly offered to add a folding bed to my room instead. I agreed and confirmed this plan with my friend, who was traveling from New York.

Upon checking in, I made sure to ask the front desk about the bed, and they assured me it would be taken care of. However, despite following up multiple times, the bed was never delivered. I returned to my room at 1 AM on Friday, expecting the bed to be there as my friend was about to arrive, only to find that nothing had been done.

When I called the reception again, I was told that there were no notes from previous staff about my request, and they claimed there was nothing they could do at that hour.

Ultimately, I paid nearly $1,000 for this stay, gave my bed to my friend, and ended up sleeping on the floor with a blanket.

For a four-star hotel, this level of service is simply unacceptable and unprofessional. I expected far better treatment and communication.
